Why is Trump fighting so hard to suppress this report? If there are errors or falsehoods he can refute and debunk the report. If the report is entirely factual he can spin and deny it anyway and his cult members will believe him.

(ABC News)U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon, who dismissed Donald Trump's classified documents case, has ruled that the Justice Department can publicly release Volume One of special counsel Jack Smith's report, covering his election interference case against Trump -- but is reserving ruling on whether the DOJ can make Volume Two, on the classified documents case, available to congressional leadership for review.

Cannon has scheduled a hearing on that matter for Jan. 17, three days before Trump's inauguration.

Cannon last week issued an injunction temporarily blocking the release of the entire report -- both the first volume on the Jan. 6 case and the second volume on the classified documents case -- as the Justice Department appeared poised to publicly release the report. Attorney General Merrick Garland had vowed to release the classified documents volume to top members of Congress and to publicly release the election interference volume.

"Why is Trump fighting so hard to suppress this report? If there are errors or falsehoods he can refute and debunk the report. If the report is entirely factual he can spin and deny it anyway and his cult members will believe him."

    Really?

A prosecutor's unchecked accusations? Hmmmm. I can't imagine why anyone would oppose unchecked accusations about them being published. Maybe someone who's really smart can figure that out.

Still, the whole lawfare enterprise has only served to heighten Trump's power... and popularity... and influence.

Do you think that maybe the Tangerine Trespasser "doth protest too much?" Bahaha.

That's my point. With the release of the report, Trump can check the "unchecked accusations".

  3. by Curt_Anderson on January 13, 2025 1:22 pm
We live in a democracy, "of, by, and for the people". Taxpayer money was used to pay for the report, therefore we the people have the right to see the report about a president of the United States while he was employed by American taxpayers.

Trump has already given his side of the story of what happened between the 2016 election and January 6, 2017.

  4. by HatetheSwamp on January 13, 2025 1:28 pm

That is as may be. But, you can't expect Trump to be happy about it.

Honestly, you don't strike me as an "of the people, by the people and for the people" guy.

  5. by Curt_Anderson on January 13, 2025 1:32 pm
That's only because you are an "of the autocrat, by the autocrat and for the autocrat" guy.

You are a Big Brother disciple.

  7. by Indy! on January 13, 2025 2:13 pm

You don't understand corporate America is telling "Big Brother" what to do and you're on your knees for them. Be honest now... If Leon says strip down to your skivvies and dance like a monkey - you would.

🤗I like how in your last comment you are oblivious to the irony of your opposition to a report that may hurt the feelings of “dear leader”.

  9. by HatetheSwamp on January 13, 2025 2:32 pm

What opposition, Curt? I noted that Trump can't be happy that Trump about the report being published...

... if, in the end, it is.

    But I'm not opposed.

I'm convinced that Trump's approval will increase if it is. But, opposed? Nah.

    HtS,
Forgive me for thinking that when you lamented “unchecked accusations” and “lawfare” that you were indicating any disapproval of releasing the report.

  11. by HatetheSwamp on January 13, 2025 3:36 pm

You're forgiven. But, I was characterizing why Trump wouldn't want the report released.

As I said, for myself, as an observer of political machinations, I am certain that, if the report is released, Trump will benefit as he's working to build his influence in Congress.
