The only question is whether it's dementia or he's just plain nuts. In any case, it frightens me that he's getting ready to lead our country for the next four years. At some point, we as a nation are going to have to intervene and stop him.

Maybe it's wishful thinking, but I predict that Trump isn't going to complete his term of office.

Watch the clip. Trump's mind is completely blown.

    Donna (AKA Trigger),

I am genuinely concerned that if... when... it becomes obvious that the 25th Amendment should be activated on Trump that it won't happen...

Because you lot have thrown away all your credibility over your "dithering and diminished" Lord and Savior. H€ck in your video, your own bozo still denies that "that feckless dementia-ridden piece of crap" suffers from dementia!

Did you catch the your Doddering Old Fool claimed, yesterday, that Kammy could have beaten Trump. Sheeeeeeeeeeeesh!

More and more, day by day, ole pb's becoming convinced that America is toast.

  2. by Indy! on January 11, 2025 11:05 am

Why is the actual clip of the speech not included? Thom has an opinion and it's probably better than most - but without the actual video? Can't trust a word of it.

This is a real problem with American politics and why we are so divided - I made the same point to my father while I was at his house watching his Fox nonsense (which has somehow managed to raise the shrill level even higher since the last time I was up there)... People do not watch the SOURCE of the info anymore. They don't look statistics from the source - the listen to whoever their favorite talking head is and take their word for it. They're watching and listening to the FILTER - not the SOURCE.

Preach it, bro! pb makes that point all the time. Our friend, Trigger, here actually gets pi$$€d when you ask for the source.

I've been a fan of Thom Hartmann for many years. He doesn't lie. If you don't believe him, I think it would be easy to find a clip of Trump saying it himself.

  5. by Donna on January 11, 2025 1:18 pm

Trump probably said those things in the video below.

"If you don't believe him, I think it would be easy to find a clip of Trump saying it himself."

For me, Trigs, I don't think he's lying, I do think he's bonkers. It's like he never watched a Trump press conference. And, maybe he hasn't. Indy's right. Does he only have a transcript?

Trump has always talked like that. I caught a nice chunk of the presser on the radio. It was classic Trump... just like in 015, no better, no worse. He's out of his own mold... and, I think your woke TDS crowd is overreacting.

Still, I wonder what will happen if he shows genuine signs of dementia. Like I said, no Dem has any credibility at all since you pretended that the Former Trucker was just fine until he bragged that we finally beat Medicare. (And your bozo thinks he still is just jimdandy.)

Trust me. It'll be your fault as much as anyone's.

  7. by Donna on January 11, 2025 1:43 pm

I found a website with the complete transcript of that press conference. It even gives the timestamps of his comments so you can watch him say those things on the video which the website also provides.

  8. by Donna on January 11, 2025 1:47 pm

From that website. This is one of the parts that Thom Hartmann read:

    (26:22)
The only people that want them are the people that are getting rich off windmills, getting massive subsidies from the US government. And it's the most expensive energy there is. It's many, many times more expensive than clean natural gas. So we're going to try and have a policy where no windmills are being built. Off the coast of New Jersey, they want to build like 200 windmills. The people are going crazy. Nobody wants them, and they're very expensive. They don't work without subsidy. You don't want energy that needs subsidy. Energy's a good business. You don't need subsidy. But when you build these massive towers and they're 25 stories tall, 40 stories, they have one 70 stories tall. The blades, they take three ships to ship them. It's crazy. They're dangerous. You see what's happening up in the Massachusetts area where they had two whales was ashore in I think a 17-year period, and now they had 14 this season, that windmills are driving the whales crazy obviously.

  9. by Indy! on January 11, 2025 1:51 pm
Well thanks for making the effort with the transcript. I read enough of Trump's statements to see what was going on - he's dong the same old Trump imho. Is there one section where he went off the rails because that is a lot to read for something like this.

So far as Hartman, I think you know that I know who he is and his reputation. That does not change the fact you are getting his OPINION. I didn't say he was lying, but to believe he is not telling the story the way HE wants you to hear it is simply denying reality. He's still a guy on the internet giving his opinion - probably with very little (or no) outside help to let him know when he needs to reign it in. There is a HUGE difference between "telling the truth" and working for legitimate media where you have proof readers and editors double checking your work to make sure you get the story right.

If you have an exact part of his speech you want me to read - I'll read it. But the first 2000 or so words sounded like Trump to me and as a general rule the longer he talks, the dumber he sounds. That's the way it's always been. He sounds like an idiot when he gets to the part where he has to freelance instead of going off his notes or whatever someone is whispering in his ear while he's giving a speech.

  10. by Donna on January 11, 2025 1:57 pm

See my last couple of posts. I posted them while you were composing your last comment.

That's just one example. I'm sure that you could find the other excerpts on that same website.

  11. by Indy! on January 11, 2025 2:02 pm

You've never heard Trump say something like that? Yes, it's crazy misinformed to anyone with even a cursory knowledge of renewable energy - but Trump? Par for the course.

  12. by meagain on January 11, 2025 2:04 pm

Trump is nuts and makes up his ideas. On average, the leveised cost of onshore wind is 40% cheaper than average gas. Offshore is close to the same. But, gas prices can only keep increasing while wind power will reduce still further since it is free and the costs of building and production are all that is in its makeup.

As for whales, not only did it not harm any whales, it is being discovered that it is a positive, a benefit to all marine life. It creates new eco systems.

  13. by Indy! on January 11, 2025 2:07 pm

Bingo. But that's every speech when it comes to Trump - or debates. Remember when he repeated the Fox Noise lie that Haitians were grabbing people's pets to make dinner? That's where he gets his "info" - from Fox. And if the past week is any indication - Fox just lies their ass off about anything they don't like the same way he does.

  14. by Donna on January 11, 2025 2:07 pm

Indy - You didn't believe he said those things unless you watched Trump say them himself, so I provided the transcript complete with timestamps and the entire video, and now you're like 'so what?'

  15. by Indy! on January 11, 2025 7:14 pm

I'm like "so what" because unless you missed the last decade - you should have already been aware that's who he is and how he "explains" things. I don't see it as him "losing his mind" - I see it as he's a total dumbass getting seriously bad information from Fox and repeating it as though it were true. He's highly misinformed - but his "brain" is still working same as always. I guess you could claim he's been losing his mind for (at least) the last decade. Seems like a stretch though.

  16. by HatetheSwamp on January 12, 2025 3:52 am

    Donna,

Re: "I'm like "so what" because unless you missed the last decade - you should have already been aware that's who he is and how he "explains" things."

    Indy's bang on.

And, you are a hypocrite, Trigs. You and your Good German silence in the wake of your "dithering and diminished" "feckless dementia-ridden" Doddering Old Fool's performance from his 020 campaign on.

    Trigger,

I agree with Indy, too. What caused you to change your mind?

  19. by Curt_Anderson on January 12, 2025 12:18 pm
The problem with Donald "I alone can fix it" Trump is that he is a victim of the The Dunning-Kruger effect. To make matters worse, it is a contagious strain that affected much of America.

There are politicians, including Biden, who aren't geniuses. But most of them realize they are not omniscient and may even not be at the top of their game intellectually, but they are smart enough to know that they don't know everything so they enlist advisors with specialized knowledge.

The Dunning-Kruger effect is a cognitive bias that occurs when someone overestimates their knowledge. That problem is exacerbated because Trump surrounds himself with incompetents, sycophants and yes men. The result will be four years of kakistocracy.

  20. by HatetheSwamp on January 12, 2025 12:56 pm

    "I an fix it alone?"

  21. by Indy! on January 12, 2025 4:54 pm

It goes beyond that because what tRump actually says most of the time is "I am the ONLY one who can fix it". Followed by things like "I know more about the economy than anyone in the world" when he wouldn't even be able to balance a check book if he had to do it by himself.
