OF COURSE he would. Every country will retaliate. And no country will be better off as a result. Trump's harebrained tariff scheme could cause a worldwide recession. In fact, people are already starting to stock up on goods like toilet paper to get a little ahead of what Trump might foist on all of us.

The US has recovered from the COVID economy better than any other country, and now we're going to allow this ignorant clown who's scheduled to be sworn in as our president on Jan 20th to f**k it up?

Mr. Mangione should have aimed higher.

Mr. Mangione should have aimed higher.

Free speech extends much further than you Big Brother types wish it would.

But, not to death threats against the President-elect. I'm pretty sure.

  2. by oldedude on December 12, 2024 2:26 pm
Again, my empathy for Mangione is one of indifference. I just heard he's maybe going to Rikers. A good place for him. And he gets a cell to himself. That's good. He'll be broke in easy.

I have never in my life wanted any president of the US dead. That included several that I really disliked. I guess I have a different scale than many. Like I have said before. The people that deserve to die are the evil among us. The ones that murder families, the Japanese at Nanjing testing swords on infants hung by the feet to be cut in half. Barbarous and cowardly acts humans do to each other and not petty hatred.

It is hard for me to hate a politician so much I want them dead. There are some that deserve it because of acts against their citizens. Pol Pot, Ceaușescu, Hitler, Sadam, al Assad, etc. I haven't learned of any US president that ever rose to that level. Grant may have been the closest with the Indian wars.

Y'know? I think all of us agree with the Project 2025 crowd. Tariffs are bad. Clearly, Donna does.

  4. by oldedude on December 12, 2024 10:53 pm
I think they're a negotiation tool. Not a thing you actually do unless it's a to a country you wish to impede.

  5. by HatetheSwamp on December 13, 2024 3:44 am

Agreed, OD, and I think that's a big duh.

Even a progressive moron, like Trudeau, knows that if Canada fights a tariff war against the US, it'll escalate and the US will be bothered... but Canada's economy will be crushed. As po'd say, EFFINcrushed!

Trump is America first, and that's what this is.

    *****

But, again. I just love watching our TDS gang parrot Project 2025's Heritage Foundation on tariffs. Donna, for instance, is waaaaaaay more Project 2025 than is Trump... by a looooooooong shot!

    Baha!

How short your memories are. Trump tried tariffs last time and we retaliated dollar for dollar.

You two are not very bright, but I had not thought you quite so dumb. They will hurt you a lot. Both he tariffs that Trump imposes and the ones that Canada retaliates with.

  7. by Donna on December 15, 2024 1:15 pm

And Biden kept those tariffs in place.

  8. by HatetheSwamp on December 15, 2024 1:27 pm

    meagain,

There's no way that Canada can win a tariff war against the US. Very possibly, both sides may suffer... but there's no way Canada can defeat the US in this war.

The US GNP is 11+ times greater than Canada's.

  9. by meagain on December 15, 2024 2:23 pm

You don't get it do you, PB? Who gets hurt most is irrelevant. You are also going to be hurt by Mexico's tariff response; by Europe's response, and by China's response. Yes, you will hurt them all but at what cost? Be prepared for a recession combined with high inflation. Perhaps a worldwide Depression. Last one of those you had 25% unemployment.

  10. by HatetheSwamp on December 15, 2024 2:48 pm

Who doesn't get it is you. I'm libertarian-ish. I'm opposed to tariffs.

But, if you're juiced about Canada retaliating against US tariffs, you... are... as po'd say,... EFFINlooneytunes.

  11. by Indy! on December 15, 2024 5:22 pm

These two were the ones complaining about "Biden inflation" and now that the orange skidmark is running the country (into the ground) - they're perfectly cool paying more for everything because Pharaoh Fatso doesn't understand how tariffs work.

  12. by oldedude on December 16, 2024 2:22 am
And I've stated repeatedly that this is a "negotiation," which I know you also don't understand. Trudeau also said that he fully supported feminism. Not a good look to start in a battle of words with trumpster. Like going to a gunfight with a sap. Oh, you won't understand that either. Look it up.

  13. by HatetheSwamp on December 16, 2024 3:16 am

You're exactly right. It is negotiation. If Trump goes through with the tariffs, it'll be Trudeau's fault.

Trump is making it clear. The days of the US president as an impotent, demented buffoon are over.

  14. by meagain on December 16, 2024 8:52 am

"If Trump goes through with the tariffs it will be Trudeau's fault."

Sublime projection. Like Putin blaming Zelensky for the war to annex Ukraine.
