I laugh every time I hear that because we already are an oligarchy, which will become an even more powerful oligarchy under Trump 2.0. We kept hearing before the election that the #1 issue for Americans was the economy, specifically high cost of goods and services. Trump's answer? Expand tariffs, which would certainly make that problem worse. Now people are acting like the problem has been solved. I don't get it. What's going to happen is that the middle class and the poor will pay for Trump's tax cuts for billionaires. I remarked that people who know the suspect must recognize him even though he is wearing a mask. During COVID when people wore masks routinely I had no problem in recognizing friends and acquaintances just by seeing the upper half of their face when I ran into them in public places.
