I'm worried about the election. Just received an email from the Harris/Walz campaign informing me that Trump has gained 5 points on Harris in a new NBC poll.

People are believing Trump's lies. I guess Kamala needs to start lying as much as Trump.

  3. by HatetheSwamp on October 18, 2024 9:54 am

    Donna,

That poll is days old. See link.

Honestly, voters know that Trump's a BSer. It's not Trump. They're turning away of Kammy.

Did you notice, in the Fox interview, that Kammy has lost her "joy?"

Back in the day, Reagan always had a smile and a soft reply in a hostile interview like the one KK VOLUNTEERED FOR when she went on Fox.

If Kamala had answered joyously to all of the tough questions she was asked, you'd be criticizing her for that too, Hts.

America has always had a misogyny and racism problem. That's what we're seeing play out.

And most Americans have been too disengaged to be able to discern fact from fiction. Goebbels wrote about the effectiveness of repeating lies. In that respect, Trump has been a superb student.

    Peebs...
Did you notice, in the Fox interview, that Kammy has lost her "joy?"

Have you notice Trump only smiles when he's forced to take a photo with someone? Dude is the unhappiest person ever in the history of the universe.

  6. by Donna on October 18, 2024 10:22 am

Trump is already in hell. That's why we never see him laugh or even form a full smile.

Why anyone would worship a person who is obviously so unhappy is beyond me. He's living proof money can't buy happiness.

"If Kamala had answered joyously to all of the tough questions she was asked, you'd be criticizing her for that too, Hts"

    We'll never know.

"America has always had a misogyny and racism problem. That's what we're seeing play out."

    I disagree.

The church group I was a part of when I was in the institutionalized church, formed 200 years ago as an anti-slavery movement... with women ministers!

More than 350,000 union soldiers died in our fight end slavery.

    You are wrong.

"And most Americans have been too disengaged to be able to discern fact from fiction."

But, not po and you, eh? And Kammy and Elmer Walz.

According to the analysis, Harris made only one false statement. Trump made 23 false statements. Harris was dinged mostly on “needs context” statements. It’s a bit unrealistic to expect any public speaker to include “context“ as if they were reciting an encyclopedia entry and footnotes.

Here is Harris’s only false statement.
“Remember, when he was president, he tried 60 times to end the Affordable Care Act.”

This was a reference to the number of votes taken in Congress to change the health care law, including some repeal efforts but other minor changes and some supported by Democrats. The vast majority of those efforts preceded Mr. Trump’s presidency. During his time in office, House Republicans took more than a dozen votes to change the health care law.

The Catholics do not operate like you GOPers, peebs. No false idols allowed.

Good for your church group, Hts.

The US, actually humankind, has a history of misogyny. When we say misogyny, we aren't saying hatred towards women, although that does represent a subset of misogynists, but the word can carry with it the idea that women are to be subservient to men. For example, St. Paul preached that men must "honor" their wives, but that wives must "obey" their husbands.

Misogyny can also carry with it the notion that women aren't as intelligent as men. It wasn't until the 20th century that women were allowed to vote. These, too, are aspects of misogyny.

Not sure why you went into a rant about slavery. I said that the US has always been a racist nation, not a nation of slave owners. Are you saying that racism ended with abolition?

  13. by HatetheSwamp on October 18, 2024 2:54 pm

"For example, St. Paul preached that men must "honor" their wives, but that wives must "obey" their husbands."

What Paul says is, "Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ."

Re: "Not sure why you went into a rant about slavery."

Because of your lie when you said,

"America has always had a misogyny and racism problem."

  14. by Curt_Anderson on October 18, 2024 3:33 pm
    HtS,
It's not a lie, it's an opinion even if it were incorrect. But it's correct. I happen to agree with the statement that "America has always had a misogyny and racism problem". I also agree that American has made vast improvements in that regard.

There are still people who think women are "too emotional" to president or that Blacks don't the intelligence for the job. Admittedly they are a minority, but they vote.

  15. by Donna on October 18, 2024 3:36 pm

Paul wasn't talking about marruage wuth the quote you cited. When speaking specifically about marriage, he said what I posted.

You're kooky if you don't think that America has had a racism problem before and since the Civil War.
