A stranger poked a three and half inch stick up my nose.

This happened in a drive-thru in Medford operated by our local hospital.

I might have had a slight case of Covid for the past couple of days. I was headachy and fatigued. I uncharacteristically took an hour nap yesterday and slept 10 hours last night. I feel mostly better today. I was vaccinated last March but the protection of the vaccine wains over time.

After describing my symptoms, my doctor buddy ordered a PCR* test for me. It could be something else besides Covid causing my symptoms, such as allergies or the smoke from regional forest fires. Besides satisfying my own curiosity if I had Covid or not, the county health department who I spoke to, recommended that I get tested. Plus I believe I will get a measurement of my antibody levels which might determine when I should get a booster shot.

With my wife back east I am more or less self-quarantining. I don't have plans or the need to be in public. I should get my results within the next 48 hours. So then I won't have to wonder if I could infect anybody.

*PCR means polymerase chain reaction. It’s a test to detect genetic material from a specific organism, such as a virus. The test detects the presence of a virus if you have the virus at the time of the test. The test could also detect fragments of the virus even after you are no longer infected.
