The best way to understand this post is to begin by playing the video. It's one I put on SS a few weeks ago.
I sent a link to a long-time friend the same day I linked to it here. On the subject line, I put, "This is too funny."
My friend, call him Mark, is a huuuuuuuuuge MAGA GOP.
Mark didn't think that the video was funny... AT ALL.
Before all was said and done, we exchanged about a dozen emails over it. Mark's not a Christian. Certainly, he's not an evangelical. He calls himself a deist.
Curiously, his initial response response to the video was to ask, how can a Christian like me think this is funny. We went back and forth on that for a few messages.
Then I wrote that seems to me that he wants to create an Iranian type Christian theocracy in America. And, I added, "The Jesus I know said, 'My kingdom is not of this world.'" I wrote that Mark's welcome to convince me that I'm wrong.
Mark's answer?
He started a fresh email chain with "Final Contact" on the subject line. His message:
"Please just leave me alone. Now and always. Thank you."
In reply, I expressed regret that our friendship was ending and promised to be available to him if he wants to renew our acquaintance.
Nothing.
Previously, I'd told him that we'd be near him today, 9/30, and asked if he'd meet us for lunch. He didn't respond.
Mark and I go way back. He even lived with us for a few months when he was homeless. But, it seems, the woke, MAGA, and the Swamp were bigger than our friendship.
BTW, I still think it's too funny.
