"Without involving the Afghan government, [Trump] and his Administration negotiated a deal with the Taliban that freed 5,000 Taliban fighters," the retired military officials wrote in a National Security Leaders for America letter first obtained by Axios.

The group accused Trump of leaving Biden and Harris with no plans to execute a withdrawal and little time to do so.

"This chaotic approach severely hindered the Biden-Harris Administration's ability to execute the most orderly withdrawal possible and put our service members and our allies at risk," they wrote.

Trump "continually disrespects those who serve in uniform, including wounded warriors, prisoners of war, and those who have made the ultimate sacrifice," they added.

The truth? Joe Biden is the greatest military strategist since Alexander the Great. Unfortunately, the electorate is too stoopid to know real genius when they see it.

  2. by Indy! on September 9, 2024 10:24 am

Nobody cares. Just the latest convenient excuse for the GOP to whine.

That's pretty stupid, and for you to believe it is worse. trumpster had a results-based egress out of Afghanistan. pedojoe had a "timetable." if he could make that change, he could make any change he wanted to. Just like pedojoe changing all the EO's he did on day one and two.

  4. by ROB3RT on September 9, 2024 12:48 pm

    Hey, Pedodude:

I think the generals have more credibility on this than a Trump troll like yourself.

  5. by Indy! on September 9, 2024 12:49 pm

...and the military could have easily blown up all those weapons they left behind for future business ventures (read: wars of choice) - but they didn't. Gee... wonder why? 🤔

Of course that last one was a rhetorical question (I know most of you got that, but... MAGAs. Gotta throw them the bone).

  6. by oldedude on September 9, 2024 6:43 pm
Maybe they had to have the means to do that? Did you ever think of that little "boy?"

You by your own admittance, declared you don't know jack and shit about the military. That shows and is truly believable!

That simply isn't true. Trump iced out the Afghanistan government and negotiated directly with the Taliban (which was criticized by Gen. McMasters and John Bolton among other Trump advisors), secured the release if 5,000 Taliban fighters (also criticized), and set a timeline to pull out by May of 2021, which Biden missed by 3 months.

    Donna,

Joe reversed Trump's border policies in a freakin friggin EFFINday with Executive Orders but was powerless to alter Trump's Afghanistan policy.

    Yeah, right.

So you're saying we were "fighting" (read: losing to) the Taliban for 20 years and we didn't have any bombs to blow shit up? Because we used them all up in Iraq blowing up trucks with flat tires and dead batteries? Sounds like you're the one who doesn't know anything about the military. Which tracks with everything else you say about it.

  10. by Donna on September 10, 2024 11:20 am

The Taliban fighters Trump released in his deal with the Taliban are the same terrorists who killed 13 US military personnel when the US pulled out in Aug 2021. So I assume that you're saying Biden should have recaptured those 5,000 Taliban terrorists that Trump stupidly released without even consulting the Afghani government.

  11. by Indy! on September 10, 2024 11:25 am

We do that (release the soldiers) for the same reason we armed them for the next war by leaving everything behind... because war is a business and right now it's not good enough for the MIC. They need to keep the Taliban in the game and they're not going to be around much longer using those Russian weapons from the 1980s THEY left behind.

  12. by HatetheSwamp on September 10, 2024 11:27 am

"The Taliban fighters Trump released in his deal with the Taliban are the same terrorists who killed 13 US military personnel when the US pulled out in Aug 2021."

    Really?

    Link?

  13. by Indy! on September 10, 2024 11:31 am

So you're okay releasing 5000 TERRORISTS back into the world DURING AN (ALLEGED) "WAR ON TERRORISM" as long as they weren't the ones who killed the magical 13 guys - the guys you and OD seem to believe are the only Americans who died in that war?

  14. by Donna on September 10, 2024 1:45 pm

They seem to be ok with that, Indy, I guess because it was Trump who did that. I can't think of another explanation.

  15. by HatetheSwamp on September 10, 2024 1:50 pm

Since before "that feckless dementia-ridden piece of crap's" Abbey Gate debacle, I have made it clear that I opposed Trump's planned withdrawal from Afghanistan.

But, that doesn't justify Joe's ineptitude.

  16. by Donna on September 10, 2024 2:01 pm

So you actually expected a perfect withdrawl in Afghanistan after Trump released 5,000 Taliban terrorists there?

  17. by HatetheSwamp on September 10, 2024 2:04 pm

    Perfect?

    Bahahahahahahahahahaha haha ha!

Review the historic fall in Joe's approval when it happened. America was scandalized by Joe's failure.

  18. by Donna on September 10, 2024 2:09 pm

I know. Most Americans, even many Democrats, don't have a clue about a lot of things.

  19. by HatetheSwamp on September 10, 2024 2:11 pm

Lucky for you. You are so d@ng superior to, uh, "most Americans." You... and, po, too, of course.

  20. by Curt_Anderson on September 10, 2024 2:14 pm
Republican fetish with Abbeygate and their blaming of Biden for the final 13 soldiers killed is as moronic as it is cynical.

Imagine that none of the Afghanis who wanted to leave didn't wait until the last minute to catch the last plane out but left in an orderly fashion starting when Trump announced our planned departure. Why would that have stopped a suicide bomber from going to the airport on the final or any other day and blowing up himself and everybody nearby?

If Afghanistan is brought up tonight, I hope Harris asks Trump why he hasn't mourned the 65 soldiers who died in Afghanistan while he was president.

  21. by HatetheSwamp on September 10, 2024 2:23 pm

All I know is that "that feckless dementia-ridden piece of crap's" approval tanked when it happened... and, never recovered.

  22. by Indy! on September 10, 2024 2:33 pm

Yes, but peebs... you haven't factored in the MAGAts lying to pollsters. In reality, Joe's numbers went up simply because we bailed out of that stupid war of CHOICE.

  23. by HatetheSwamp on September 10, 2024 2:40 pm

Well, yeah. But they were lying back in 016.

  24. by oldedude on September 10, 2024 7:58 pm
How about kammy LYING TO EVERYONE?

  25. by Indy! on September 10, 2024 8:22 pm

Hillary was the candidate. That's the only reason Trump won. Well, Hillary and the fact most people had no idea how incompetent, immoral and racist Trump is.
