Then if and when the hostages are back home, tell Hamas "we were lying".

With Hamas holding the kidnapped hostages and killing them, any negotiations are done under duress. Contracts agreed to under duress are illegal and unenforceable in America and probably everywhere else.

There is no reason for Israel or America to treat Hamas as if they are honest, sincere negotiators.

Obviously, Hamas hates Israel more than they care for Palestinians. So simply bombing Gaza isn't resulting in a surrender that any other nation or people would do in a similar circumstance. In other circumstances Hamas would be unpopular with the citizenry for leading them to death and ruin.

Hamas needs to be eliminated internally rather than externally. There needs to be a Palestinian resistance movement. What hasn't happened and is needed to get past this awful chapter in history, is what happened in WWII Italy, namely an Palestinian version of the Italian resistance movement which hunted down and killed Mussolini and his henchmen.

That might work if the sociopath actually cared about the lives of the hostages. He gets a bigger charge out of watching Palestinian children getting blown to smithereens on UDF footage. I don't think he could handle a week without watching anguished Palestinian parents searching in vain for their children under piles of rubble.

    Donna,
There is no shortage of sociopaths in that region.

Netanyahu's counterpart is Yahya Sinwar, the leader of Hamas, who is responsible for planning and carrying out years of terrorist attacks in Israel, including the Oct. 7 massacre.

Relying on the "negotiators" is hopeless. That's why I hope there will be a Palestinian resistance movement.

  3. by HatetheSwamp on September 8, 2024 3:25 pm

    Which sociopath, Donna?

  4. by Donna on September 8, 2024 5:22 pm

Yes, all of Hamas are sociopaths too. I've been saying for years that Israeli as well as Palestinian citizens deserve better leadership than they've had.

Treaties are broken all the time. The US has broken numerous treaties, especially with native Americans. Netanyahu is certainly aware that he could do what you suggested, Curt. Perhaps a better question is why he hasn't taken that approach.

There was some reporting shortly after the Hamas attack that Netanyahu had been supporting Hamas as a way to keep various Palestinian groups divided. I don't know if any of this has been confirmed, but it would explain a few things.

Here's an excerpt from Vox (Benjamin Netanyahu failed Israel, Oct. 9, 2023)

Second, a columnist at Israel’s Ha’aretz newspaper unearthed evidence that Netanyahu has intentionally propped up Hamas rule in Gaza — seeing Palestinian extremism as a bulwark against a two-state solution to the conflict.

“Anyone who wants to thwart the establishment of a Palestinian state has to support bolstering Hamas and transferring money to Hamas,” the prime minister reportedly said at a 2019 meeting of his Likud party. “This is part of our strategy — to isolate the Palestinians in Gaza from the Palestinians in the West Bank.”

These exact comments have not yet been confirmed by other sources. But the Times of Israel’s Tal Schneider wrote on Sunday that Netanyahu’s reported words “are in line with the policy that he implemented,” which did little to challenge and in some ways bolstered Hamas’s control over the Gaza Strip. Moreover, Schneider notes, “the same messaging was repeated by right-wing commentators, who may have received briefings on the matter or talked to Likud higher-ups and understood the message.” Some Netanyahu confidants have said the same thing, as have outside experts.

pedojoe would like nothing more than to get at least the Americans out. They "thought" they had a deal. Hamas changed the goalposts. Welcome to dealing with terrorists. This is a usual thing with them. They'll continue the fight because their goal is the genocide of the Jews. Not taking care of it's people. And like getting in debt with a mafia, you'll never vote yourselves out. It can't be done without a LOT of bloodshed.

Adding to what ROB3RT reported -- and I shared this here earlier this year -- I think it's possible that Netanyahu, who knew about the plot well in advance of Oct 7, allowed it to happen.

So Hamas believes in no Jews between Jerusalem to the sea (or however the saying goes) and Israel believes in no Palestinians between Jerusalem and the sea. Yes, as someone said - that explains a lot.

Honestly, the two-state solution isn't what either Hamas or the Israeli government want. Hamas is only happy with murdering all Jews in the world. Israeli government's most valued wish is to eradicate Hamas and Hezbollah off the face of the earth.

Clearly, neither country can exist with the other, regardless of the wishes of the left. The Israelis want to be safe without war. So the Israeli government waits and allows Hamas to strike at will. Then they have to build up and go to war (yet again). Many times, it's rockets thrown at Tel Aviv, etc. This was too much. And it wasn't a random act. It was a very well rehearsed operation that targeted the helpless.

I've said this before. If Hamas would have followed the rules of war (generally), the Israelis wouldn't have gotten truly upset about the attack. That would have included attacking a military target(s) and minimize civilian casualties.

The issue is that Hamas (well, radical Islamic terrorists inclusive) routinely hit civilian targets. That's what they do. From the Congo, GB, US, EU, etc. By choice. And honestly, those that actually give a shit about Palestinian lives, isn't Hamas. It's rich white younger folk that see a cause, listen to the rhetoric and jump on the homer band wagon led by Palestinians that are calling for genocide. So anything Israel does to protect itself is nothing but Israeli aggression. And it's ALWAYS the Jews fault. ONLY. Without exception. Many on the left complain they don't support Hamas. But those in charge of the protests ARE Hamas supporters. They use the numbers of "protesters" as numbers supporting Hamas and Radical Islam, and the genocide of all Jews. That's what they're telling their part of their world.
