It's like I figured. I accept the General's analysis. I know cultists will reject any criticism of their cult leader.

Trump set a date, dithered, left the mess for Biden to clean up, Biden gave the military an extra three months beyond the date Trump set and then things went south. The good news is that we no longer have more than 100 military personnel dying per year plus many more injured and maimed as we had been for two decades.

(CNN)Retired Lt. Gen. H.R. McMaster, who served as national security adviser under former President Donald Trump, said Monday his onetime boss bears some responsibility for the US’ chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021.

McMaster told CNN’s Anderson Cooper that the former president had made a decision in 2017 to maintain a US presence in Afghanistan, but that Trump then changed his mind. The Trump administration ultimately entered into an agreement with the Taliban requiring US troops to withdraw from the country by May 2021. President Joe Biden, after he took office, pushed that withdrawal date back to August.

“He couldn’t stick with the decision,” McMaster, who served as Trump’s national security adviser from early 2017 until April 2018, said on “AC 360.” “He didn’t stick with the decision. And I think people were in his ear and manipulated him with these mantras: ‘End the endless wars’ and ‘Afghanistan is a graveyard of empires’ and so forth.”

Asked by Cooper if Trump bears some responsibility for the heavily criticized withdrawal during the Biden administration, McMaster responded, “Oh, yes.”

So a little context here that you conveniently didn't say. McMaster's is selling his book on CNN that just came out. And it's selling books, so to make money, you should hack trumpster. Is it true what he said? maybe. And to me, anyone that is selling a book is more like a greasy-hair used car salesman than an honest appraisal. And it's his opinion.

The Flip Side of the Goatf**k in Kabul or How Putin used this against us for months afterwards to show the Russians how flaccid the US is.
pedojoe ordered the withdrawal of US forces from Afghanistan over the advice of some of his senior-most advisers in the Pentagon and State Department such as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs Gen. Mark Milley, leader of US Central Command Gen. Frank McKenzie and some State Department officials, leaders who were charged with carrying out the particulars of the complicated drawdown. This has always been my critique of the failed attempt to get out in a logical, orderly operation. And I've said this since the goatfuck happened.

What is known is that pedojoe put the state dept in charge of a military mission. Big operations. The IC's job is small, covert operations that don't demand the logistics of moving tens of thousands of people "safely" and within a structure. The much better role for the IC would have been to find the terps and US citizens in the outlying areas and at least contact them. pedojoe did not feel that was a requirement of the job and it had to be done by "volunteers" that had no support from the US Government. Instead, we took unvetted Afghans which we know had Taliban in their numbers on those C17's.

Another issue. When trumpster was also considering a withdrawal, US military leaders set a floor of some 2,500 US troops to provide counter-terror support and diplomatic security. While the final number of US forces who will remain in Afghanistan to protect the US diplomatic mission. pedojoe rejected that number and "assumed" the Taliban would steer clear of the US diplomatic mission in Kabul. pedojoe also made a hard and fast date, not allowing any slippage for changing threats on the ground and refusing to support the diplomatic mission.

So not a slam on either the pentagon or the IC. They both did what they were told to do. It's just not their forte. What was agreed on was that “All relevant points of view were heard, and all arguments were put on the table.” Assuming that happened, it is then up to the "commander" to decide if they listen to their people or not. Milley and McKenzie both know the region and served as the senior military commander in the region.

Among those advocating against a withdrawal, Milley had been among the most ardent, suggesting earlier in the deliberations that pulling American troops from Afghanistan could cause the government in Kabul to collapse and prompt backsliding in women’s rights, according to people familiar with the conversations. And what happened? EXACTLY THAT.

So go ahead and buy McMaster's book. As usual, I'm not. And I wouldn't if it were a hack job on pedojoe and kammy. I'd actually be shocked if po, indy, or curt actually read this. And rest assured, they'll talk sh*t about it.

Afghanistan was a marketing ploy by Lockheed, Raytheon, Halliburton and all the other death merchants, OD. There was no “victory” to be had there - just like Vietnam. So, like most Americans, I don’t care who bears guilt for the pullout problems = I’m just glad we’re out.

The military industrial complex... beloved of "that feckless dementia-ridden piece of crap"... is an enemy of "we the people."

Fans of Zelenskyy, and the blank checks written to him by Kammy and the Doddering Old Fool, with the devotion, especially of isle, but also of po and Donna and Curt are idiots...

    ...on that we agree.

Again. They're only little brown people, they don't matter to you. Good job! Being the good little german and making excuses for leaving a country in slavery.
    Well done! welldone.

To not be a fan of Zelensky, HS, is to be without a conscience or a care for Western civilisation and democracy. It may be trite but it is true, that he is fighting your battle to preserve your idea of the way of life and many tens of thousands of Ukrainian lives are being sacrificed in your cause.

I always opposed the U.S.'s war in Afghanistan because I knew that it would turn into another quagmire.

  7. by Indy! on August 27, 2024 10:13 am

Yes. And OD - like Lockheeed, Raytheon, etc... has a financial interest in killing "brown people" so of course he's all for staying 1,000 years (at which point we would still have to leave and the Taliban would - again - take over and treat women badly.) The reality is we never wanted to clean up shit in Afghanistan - we just wanted to empty the shelves of stock (read: bombs) so the aforementioned war profiteers like OD could continue making money off death and destruction.

princess. I honestly don't give a flying fuck about Raytheon or any of the other companies. If you keep your panties in a knot over them, that's up to you. That's a good little girl.

  9. by Indy! on August 27, 2024 1:27 pm

I know you don't, OD. The only person you've ever cared about is yourself and your mancrush Trump.

And while we're here, Queenie... how long will it take for you to realize the misgendering "jokes" aimed at me only work on people who have questions about their sexual identity? 🤔

He's Vladimir Putin with sheeple, such as yourself, as followers

  12. by oldedude on August 27, 2024 2:52 pm
I see it somewhat different. I see that we're keeping Putin busy, and perhaps destabilizing the government. My huge question with that is who's the heir apparent. Sometimes the devil you know is better than the one you don't.

Alright - from now on you're Queenie again.
