Donna and I went to the Pima Country Democratic Party headquarters here in Tucson the other day. We wanted to get a yard sign and Donna wanted to volunteer to get people registered. While we were there, a couple other couples came in for yard signs too. We were all feeling the joy that has come back into our politics. We were all feeling so invigorated by Kamala's campaign and the possibility of her becoming president. As it turned out, the office hadn't received any yard signs yet to give out. Everything is happening so fast, there hasn't been time to make and get them out to the whole country yet.
But they turned us on to a sign shop that was making and selling them, and we went there. And there, a couple of other people were also there to get Harris/Walz yard signs. One woman got one that said "CHILDLESS CAT LADY FOR HARRIS". Oddly, the place had no Trump signs for sale. Not much call for them I guess.
And again, we were all reveling in her campaign and this wonderful feeling of joy. The look on people's faces was simply priceless. Like wanderers in a desert who just came upon an oasis.
I am sure that this joy is not limited to Tucson. It is being felt all over the country and is ubiquitously palpable. People are actually joyous about our future for the first time in a great long while.
I intend to enjoy it for as long as possible.
