Donna recently came across a video of this pastor from Texas who I wish was even an hour away from here so that we could attend his church regularly.

His name is James Talarico and those of you who watch Fox as much as Hate does have probably seen him as a guest on occasion. I think he would be a perfect choice to give the prayer at Harris's inauguration.

This is the video that Donna came across, and we are both just so impressed and refreshed by his take on Christianity and why Christian Nationalism is absolutely antithetical to the teachings of Christ. He simply calls out all the bullshit. He explains in words better than I ever could how Christian Nationalism, in my words, makes Jesus barf His Divine Guts out.

He is saying everything that I have tried to say about the idolatries of so many Christians in this country who think that their actions to exert power and control over other people's lives are based in Christianity.

Bill, he makes the case that I have been trying to make for years in here and I would love to hear your thoughts about what he is saying here.

Very nice, Pondy. Not surprising none of the board "Christians" has chimed in. Got a little long at the end - but the first 90% of it was 100% on point and exactly the way I feel. I will be passing it along to select religious folks in my circle...

    Thanks!

  2. by HatetheSwamp on August 13, 2024 11:04 am

    I'm not going to bother.

No one here is a Christian Nationist. No one here supports Christian Nationalism.

po and Donna, though, are Woke Nationalists. Hence, I'm certain, the linking to this video.

  3. by Indy! on August 13, 2024 11:19 am

Yes, if I were you, peebs? I wouldn't watch it either. Good move to protect your mental health and worldview - not to mention everything you "preach" about Jebus.

  4. by HatetheSwamp on August 13, 2024 11:22 am

    But, you watched it, Indy?

  5. by Indy! on August 13, 2024 11:25 am

Start to finish. How else would I know it will destroy your world if you watch it?

  6. by HatetheSwamp on August 13, 2024 11:28 am

So, give us the names of, say, five people who fit his definition of a Christian Nationalist.

My guess is that you can't. Pretty educated guess.

  7. by Ponderer on August 13, 2024 11:29 am

But Bill, your party has been pretty much taken over by Christian Nationalists. Many Trump Party congress members are Christian Nationalists. Quite a few of Trump's former aids and cabinet members are. Heck, your VP pick wrote the forward to Project 2025 for fucksake.

Look, I know how you MAGA Hats don't want anyone paying any attention to the Christian Nationalist, theocratic intentions that many in your party long to use at their earliest possible convenience. Your side has been very "Pay no attention to that Project 2025 thing behind the curtain!" about it. You don't want people to know about this until they do it and there's nothing anyone can do about it. I get it.

But the Christian Nationalism part of the video aside, it's more about the thoughts and sentiments he gives in this sermon about the blatant idolatries of many Christians that is really what I was hoping you could comment on.

  8. by Ponderer on August 13, 2024 11:33 am

"A dim that hates religion. How quaint." -Hate

Actually Bill, the true Christianity that is expressed in this video is something that I have always admired and fully respected.

It's not my fault that it's so antithetical to the "Christianity" that so many "Christians" in this country practice.

It's their bastardization of real Christianity and the teachings of Christ that I so quite appropriately hate.

  9. by Ponderer on August 13, 2024 11:35 am

My bad. That was a quote of olde dude's. Sorry od.

My guess is you're not very educated. But why name them when a picture is worth 1,000 words and this one includes not five, but SIX Christian Nationalists...

  11. by Donna on August 13, 2024 11:42 am

Hts's reaction against watching James' sermon didn't surprise me, as I've come to notice after years of conversing with him that he doesn't react very well to uncomfortable truths in general, which I suspect he suspects about the sermon because of who posted it.

But here's the thing: I think that Bill would agree with much if not all of what he said in that sermon.

  12. by Indy! on August 13, 2024 11:43 am

Actually Bill, the true Christianity that is expressed in this video is something that I have always admired and fully respected.

Yes. The best part of his sermon is when he goes thru the list of all the ANTI-Christian things that make up this (alleged) "Christian" nation.

  13. by HatetheSwamp on August 13, 2024 11:45 am

"But Bill, your party has been pretty much taken over by Christian Nationalists. Many Trump Party congress members are Christian Nationalists."

From my experience, when woke white (and they are almost all white and they are very, very middle class) members of the Swampcult talk about Christian Nationalists, they're simply using a word in the same way Adolf used the word, Jew.

I'll wait for the names of five Americans who are, based on what words mean,... Christian... Nationalists.

po, Donna? Pure Woke Nationalists. No doubt.

But, actual Christian Nationalists. I don't know of any.

  14. by Indy! on August 13, 2024 11:51 am

I gave you six already. You can add the Kock Bros, everybody who voted for the 10 Commandments in school (whatever state that was), YOU, OD, Ann Coulter, everyone at Fox...

  15. by Donna on August 13, 2024 11:52 am

The people you hang around with might not be Christian nationalists, but to deny its prominance altogether is something I've come to expect from you, because as I just said on another thread, you fear facing uncomfortable truths.

  16. by HatetheSwamp on August 13, 2024 11:53 am

So, Donna. It'll be easy. Based on what words mean, name five. Piece of cake. Eh?

  17. by Donna on August 13, 2024 11:56 am

Janes Talarico addresses the hypocrisy and un-Christianness of forcing by law all gradeschools to post the Ten Commandments in classrooms.

  18. by Donna on August 13, 2024 12:03 pm

Everyone can see that you're desperately trying to change the subject, Bill, but to answer your question, I'd start with all of the preachers and politicians who lobbied for and voted that horrid bill into law. You can look up their names if that's important to you.

  19. by HatetheSwamp on August 13, 2024 12:08 pm

"Janes Talarico addresses the hypocrisy and un-Christianness of forcing by law all gradeschools to post the Ten Commandments in classrooms."

    Okay.

BASED ON WHAT WORDS ACTUALLY MEAN, NAME FIVE...

    ...CHRISTIAN NATIONALISTS.

Donna, you do know, the Ten Commandments aren't actually Christian. They're a part of the Hebrew Torah.

  20. by Ponderer on August 13, 2024 12:11 pm

"I'll wait for the names of five Americans who are, based on what words mean,... Christian... Nationalists." -Hate

Bill, here's a list of several times five, just of Republican former Trump advisors, who are not only Christian Nationalists but are and have been championing Project 2025 at this link.

Forgive me if I assume that they are American without attribution.

Trump looks like an absolute moron saying that he has no idea what Project 2025 even is.

And I know offhand that Josh Hawley has declared openly and publicly that he's a Christian Nationalist too.

But then that's just icing on the cake, as I have already fulfilled your request and then some.

  21. by HatetheSwamp on August 13, 2024 12:14 pm

No, po. AGAIN. Based on what words mean, name five Christian Nationalists.

  22. by Donna on August 13, 2024 12:22 pm

I know your game by now, Bill. You're filibustering because you fear discussing the points, the uncomfortable truths Talarico made during that sermon.

But as I said, I think you might actually agree with most or maybe all of what he said. And I'm willing to have a conversation with you about it. You and I are the only ones here who have a background in theology. Olde dude might find it interesting, too, because Talarico also discusses Buddhism during that sermon.

  23. by oldedude on August 13, 2024 12:25 pm
First. He's a politician and a school teacher. I haven't seen where's he's been ordained in any church. Maybe the Pastafarians, but they don't count.

  24. by HatetheSwamp on August 13, 2024 12:34 pm

Okay, Donna. For you, I broke down and watched. And, you are right. You know that I despise institutionalized Christianity. I do agree with some of it.

But, d@ng it! He mentions a slew of political issues. HE'S THE RELIGIOUS NATIONALIST IN THIS CONVERSATION. He's a woke mainstream Protestant Nationalist!

And, still, I'm not aware of one person I can name who fits his/your definition of a Christian Nationalist.

And, Donna. Of the two of us, you're the one filibustering.

  25. by Ponderer on August 13, 2024 12:40 pm

"I haven't seen where's he's been ordained in any church." -olde dude

If you watched the video, you would have heard him say that he is still studying in seminary school.

And before you can claim that we said he did, he never claimed to be a lunar astronaut and we have never said that he was either.

  26. by Indy! on August 13, 2024 5:24 pm

When you get down to it - the "Christian" nationalists like pb are afraid of real Christian beliefs, thoughts and actions because that's not who they are. They can memorize a few lines from the Bible and go to church on Sunday and sleep thru the sermon - but they could never live a Christian life. A racist/bigot cannot be a Christian - in any way - except by pretending to be one like pb and OD (and most if not every politician) do. If there is a god as described in the bible - the LAST people that entity would think about saving would be the bigots and the racists. There is nothing Christian about them.

  27. by Ponderer on August 13, 2024 6:18 pm

That's what I loved about this sermon, Indy!. He beautifully called out such "Christians" for their bullshit. And I love all the "socialist" stuff that he said would actually make this a "Christian nation".

  28. by HatetheSwamp on August 13, 2024 6:30 pm

Bingo, po. You busted yourself, and your preacher, as woke mainstream Protestant Nationalists.

You should check out a UCC church if there's one in your area. You'd get sermons like that every week.

  29. by Indy! on August 13, 2024 8:28 pm

You should check out the Bible, peebs. You can get those sermons there too.

  30. by oldedude on August 13, 2024 9:26 pm
If you watched the video, you would have heard him say that he is still studying in seminary school.
Is this the seminary off the internet? It seems to me that if he is actually attending, then he is there just to mock it. Which is up to him

I'm in agreement on the UCC churches. They're the ones with the goat headed guy at the alter.

  31. by HatetheSwamp on August 14, 2024 3:55 am

Amazingly, with his references to pet woke political issues like abortion and LGBTQ rights and his preaching that his church's views are really Christian,...

...if there's such a thing as Christian Nationalism, he's a High Priest of it.

  32. by oldedude on August 14, 2024 5:37 am
To actually say it's "Christian" isn't a stretch, it boils down to a complete revision. Much like the Nazis revised their "weddings" and "funerals" etc from Christianity.

  33. by Ponderer on August 14, 2024 7:38 am

    pearls before swine.....

  34. by HatetheSwamp on August 14, 2024 8:14 am

That's OD and pb... and we do wish we were as enlightened as you, po.

Based on what the words mean, I'm still waiting. Bahaha.

  35. by Ponderer on August 14, 2024 8:51 am

I just wish that you didn't hold it against me. I can't help it if I am more intelligent than you are about so many things.

Why do you feel so hostile against anyone for being demonstrably less ignorant than you are, Bill?

  36. by HatetheSwamp on August 14, 2024 8:53 am

Abortion - 67% approval nationwide - is now a "woke" issue on Fox? LOL!!! Are you guys in for a surprise.

The funny part being there's only one real Christian church - the Catholics. The rest of you are breaking the rules and will not gain entry... ESPECIALLY the "Christian" nationalists.

  38. by Indy! on August 14, 2024 11:11 am

Once a NORMAL PERSON hits about 55 - they aren't jealous of anything because they know everything is a crock.

  39. by HatetheSwamp on August 14, 2024 11:15 am

    Non sequitur, Indy.

This wacko is arguing for turning America into a Christian Nation in his own image. He's exactly guilty of what he's preaching against!

  40. by Indy! on August 14, 2024 11:52 am

You guys need to get a new return volley. "I know you are, but what am I?" stops working around the 2nd grade, peebs.
