    "Individuals whose recall ballots were stolen will receive a replacement, ABC7 reported."

    It's not as if this criminal mastermind would have been able to influence the outcome of the election. Apparently he stole the ballots from people's mailboxes. He still would have had to match signatures of the intended recipients. Not to mention many or most of the 300 people who didn't get their ballots would have alerted election authorities that something was amiss.

    The guy was found passed out in his car with his gun and prescription medicine. That sounds like a Trumpish Republican to me.

    He probably stole them out of unprotected mailboxes. They were all sent out around the same time.

    Plus, they would have been absolutely worthless to him anyways because the signatures wouldn't have matched at all and they would have been rejected.

    I'm sensing that pb has some sort of baseless problem with mail-in ballots.

    And as the vast majority of the tiny handful of actual voter fraud is perpetrated by Republicans, I think it's safe to assume that this guy was also.

    Well who knows why that guy stole them. We don't know much at this point. It'll be an interesting story to follow.

    Occasionally the local media will report on a spate of mailbox thefts. This seems to happen mostly in rural areas where the mailboxes aren't visible from the house.

    I would be surprised if the ballots were the only mail this guy stole. Apparently these lowlifes are looking for checks they can cash or other ways to make a dishonest buck. Who knows what this guy thought he was stealing. Maybe he thought it was government checks from the state of California.

    It's a good theory that he may have thought they were government checks or something like that. He was arrested in Torrance, which isn't rural, but we don't know the addresses on the ballots he stole.
