From the mind of Donald Trump:
“I say, ‘What would happen if the boat sank from its weight, and you’re in the boat, and you have this tremendously powerful battery, and the battery’s now underwater, and there’s a shark that’s approximately 10 yards over there?’
“By the way, a lot of shark attacks lately, do you notice that? Lot of sharks. I watched some guys justifying it today: ‘Well they weren’t really that angry, they bit off the young lady’s leg because of the fact that they were not hungry but they misunderstood who she was.’ These people are crazy. He said, ‘There’s no problem with sharks, they just didn’t really understand a young woman swimming.’ No, really got decimated, and other people, too, a lot of shark attacks.

“So I said, ‘There’s a shark 10 yards away from the boat, 10 yards, or here. Do I get electrocuted if the boat is sinking, water goes over the battery, the boat is sinking? Do I stay on top of the boat and get electrocuted, or do I jump over by the shark and not get electrocuted?’ Because I will tell you, he didn’t know the answer.

“He said, ‘You know, nobody’s ever asked me that question.’ I said, ‘I think it’s a good question. I think there’s a lot of electric current coming through that water.’ But you know what I’d do if there was a shark or you get electrocuted? I’ll take electrocution every single time. I’m not getting near the shark. So we’re going to end that, we’re going to end it for boats, we’re going to end it for trucks.”

If that gibberish isn't a sign of dementia and cognitive impairment, what is? If I heard a person blathering like that in person, I would suspect they were suffering from a stroke.

Trump is a idiot. What does he think happens when a boat sinks - everybody gets electrocuted? That's why everybody got electrocuted at the end of Titanic when the boat sank. What a dumbfuck.

Sharks? Here's the reality of sharks. Remember back in the day when you were sitting in the park or in the schoolyard smoking some weed and somebody brought their dog over? Suddenly everyone is interested in the dog and wants to play with it. Why? Because it's the only dog in a group of people. It's the same with sharks. They're not swimming around your boat because they want to eat you like dumbass Trump thinks. They're curious creatures just like us - they're interested in your boat, not your flesh.

So far as shark attacks being up? According to the Yearly Worldwide Shark Attack Summary in 2023 there were...

    120 total shark attacks...
    1 no category assignment
1 happened at a public aquarium (A visitor being stupid or a shark attendant accident)
2 were scavenger bites (meaning the "victim" was already dead)
9 were attacks on boats (not people)
22 of them were provoked attacks (meaning a dumbass like Trump tried to feed or antagonize them)
    16 not confirmed
69 were unprovoked bites (the kind of attacks Trump was referring to).
10 of those attacks were fatal (2 in the USA).

So worldwide there were less than 100 confirmed attacks (provoked or not) on humans. Where do most of the unprovoked attacks occur? Still the same as always - surfers, body boarders, etc... being mistaken for something else (a seal generally because of the flippers surfers sometimes wear.

it is probably a mistake to try to decipher the ravings of a lunatic. However, I’ll try to interpret what Trump is talking about. Trump is making an “argument” against electric vehicles, including boats. In Donald Trump’s mind, electric boats are floating electrocution chambers, a danger to be avoided. What he apparently does not know or forgot is that boats and ships powered by gasoline and diesel sometimes catch fire.

People are not dying from getting shocked by cars or boats. It's actually pretty hard to get electrocuted. To give you an idea, my uncle was an electrician who wired entire buildings when they were being built. He was outfitting a new high school when someone turned the power on and he took approximately 17K volts directly to his person. Burned off a lot of his skin, all his hair and put him in the hospital for a month - but he lived. Humans are not good conductors of electricity - water is not either (btw).
