Oliver secured the nomination in the seventh round of voting after sitting in second place for the first five rounds. He received nearly 60% of the vote in the final round, finally clearing the 50% threshold required for victory, with his final opponent being the "none of the above" option.

According to the party's platform, libertarians value small government and individual freedoms. They tend to oppose war and funding other nations' wars, the War on Drugs, the death penalty, spying on Americans, taxes, running up the federal deficit and pandemic lockdowns while supporting gun rights, LGBTQ+ rights, freedom of expression and other freedoms that do not infringe on the rights of others.

Tentatively, pb's thinking he may drop his support for that "dithering and diminished" "feckless dementia-ridden piece of crap."

po. Donna. You're welcome to join me... and you won't need to have nightmares over the fact that you plan to vote for the guy who sniffs little girls' hair and who thinks America is a nation that can be defined in the single word, ASUFUTIMAEHAEHFUTBW. "End of quote. Repeat the line."

C'mon. Let's all truly choose freedom over democracy!

Lead- good job and easy to follow/discuss.

I'll actually agree with the libertarian platform as stated being a very good example of moderate libertarian's point of view.

    They tend to
    oppose
war and funding other nations' wars,
    the War on Drugs,
    the death penalty,
    spying on Americans,
    taxes,
running up the federal deficit and
    pandemic lockdowns

    supporting
    gun rights,
    LGBTQ+ rights,
    freedom of expression
and other freedoms that do not infringe on the rights of others.

My view (not necessarily theirs') is the over-riding factor of "infringing on the rights of others." While Indy (I think) and I are at a 180 on this part of it. Seeing it from opposite ends of the spectrum.

We'll agree the war on drugs is a waste. I would say that the cost in having drugs is more than what we're paying in Ukraine, etc, and something needs to be done about those peddling the drugs.

Death penalty; I honestly think some people need to die. Sorry, I believe there is true evil in the world.

Spying on Americans. Obviously, we seem to be on opposite ends of the spectrum, but we may be closer than what Indy realizes. IF the spying were restricted to the extremely narrow confines of what the PATRIOT Act is used for. For the most part I support it. The issue is that it's been shanghi'd and used illegally by the government. People that have done that need to be actually charged and gotten prison time. There must be accountability, especially in this (because most of it violates the US Constitution and rule of law).

Taxes: There are only a few constitutional issues the feds are in charge of. Stick to those ONLY.

I believe in Federalism as the founders saw for most of the rest of the things. I don't believe the federal government has any authority outside of what is stated in the constitution.

Well said, OD, and for the most part, I agree with you.

I'm libertarian-ish. Much more so ow than ever.

The GOP is the home of openness and inclusion, diversity, acceptance, tolerance and freethinking. One of the communities of thought among GOPs are the libertarian GOPs. That's me. And, it's why, while I HatetheSwamp, I'm still a GOP.

I'll add. It's because of what the string-pullers did,... and Curt and po and Donna and isle, et.al., supported so enthusiastically,... I'm far more libertarian than I was the last time Trump faced off against Biden.

They scare me. I see them as a threat.

I'm just going to say it because it would be me had I would have supported Oliver. I find your reaction, bitter, homophobic, shallow, and hateful. Not that I would expect anything else from you, a good little Nazi through and through. Two-faced, unable to be spoon fed anything but the regurgitated remains of what you consume from the parental holy trinity that feeds you your meals.

And Lead. I agree with you in the threat from our own government is appalling. And a true threat, but only if you actually understand our constitution and what morals are being erased from out government.

Ha ha…HtS posted about a gay candidate!

Huh. You're the one here dealing with homophobia... and that gay Guy you never heard of.

    Curt,

I'm beginning to think that you are entirely ignernt about what libertarianism is. I guess that that's because the woke have a more demanding orthodoxy than do Jerry Falwell fundamentalists.

But, buddy. Libertarian. Liberty. Freedom? Free?... that four letter word you don't understand, apparently.

That's a tad harsh for how I'd say it, but, bang on, OD. 100%.

Interestingly, though. I would not have expected that from Curt. I guess you get him better than do I.

OD? You have enough trouble thinking for yourself, please don't try to think for others. Especially your superiors like me. I was right about the PATIOT kneejerkreACTion from day 1. It's nice that you are slowly but surely (20 yrs later) finally catching on, but you are still lightyears behind me on that one and everything else we discuss on this board.

dikead, You are inferior in every way imaginable. You're nothing but an out of work wannabe "artist" with ZERO future, except to be a lapdog for some cartel using you as his bitch.

I included you on this one as a gesture that you can see this as something we might be able to agree on. But of course, you don't have a thought of working "with" anyone in your life. You're stuck to a 10-year-old neanderthal thought that you have to try, in every way to appear to be "superior" even when it's fucking laughable. So don't even go there boy. Keep staying as the site dikead and worthless piece of shit. You do well there.
