Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin told lawmakers Friday that Americans trying to leave Afghanistan have been beaten by Taliban fighters, according to several people who participated in a briefing call with Austin and other top officials.
Austin’s remarks to House members appeared to directly contradict President Joe Biden’s assessment from minutes earlier, in which Biden said the U.S. was not aware of Americans having trouble getting through Taliban checkpoints and to the airport in Kabul — the only evacuation point in the country that is not controlled by the Taliban.

The Biden Administration is imploding right in front of a watching world.
This reminds me of times I was with my dad in public when he was in the late moderate stage of vascular dementia. Dad had lost touch with reality. He'd invented his own reality. He couldn't lie. I'm not sure dad ever told a lie in his life. But, when your brain is this far gone, truth a notion you simply can no longer grasp.
Forget about pretending that Joe didn't claim that he used to drive an 18 wheeler. Want proof that Joe's demented? Fact check Friday's speech and his few answers to reporters' questions.
Props to Lloyd Austin. He, without chagrin or fanfare, spoke truth in the face of his boss's lies.
