Lead- Ol time liberalism is still attractive to many, I was that until woke haters took over the left. Am I right?, you were once lib, too?
Blue collar dem would be more accurate. Mostly unionized steel workers town. My dad was President of Colorado Education Association for awhile. Then the wokesters moved in. Dad got out of politics, especially in the schools. He couldn't stand that teachers forgot what they were supposed to do. This was in the late 1960's- early 1970's when the wokester movement was just starting in the schools.
indy- They've done the drug testing for welfare benefits 100 times and it backfires every time. It's just another attempt to punish the poor, but what it really does is just fuck up the system even more.
Well, these were referendums, so it came from the people. These folks are sick of walking around drug zombies and human feces for their kids to get to school. Does it hit the poor more? Yup. If they can't keep off the dope. The idea is more to move them out of the area and have them go to other places. Kind of like feeding bears. If you have a problem, you pick up your trash. They'll go to easier spots to forage.

OD,
At the moment, I'm listening to Clay and Buck, who have come out as Trump groupies. And, they're trashing RFKJ as I type this.
Makes me think that people whose values resemble Dems in his dad's dad,... even Carter's,... will take Kennedy seriously.
It's hard to think that he'd win, but there are millions who reject the big government economics and social progressivism of Joe's string-pullers... and who've had enuff of Trump's belligerence.
He could do better than Wallace in 68.
