To paraphrase that classic Alka Seltzer commercial, "I can't believe I watched that whole thing."
As I watched, very briefly, I thought of po. Ol po could have written that speech... and coached that tone.
It struck me as being Trump-ish... combative and divisive. It would have been perfect to rile up a gathering of billionaire Dem donors... but to an audience of purple state moderate and independent voters?... maybe not the right way to go about it.
Anyway,... how bout a little guessing game? On the morning after, on 538, Joe's approval is -18.2. (See link for updates).
Whadaya think? 538 moves slowly. It'll take a few weeks for the popular response to manifest itself. Easter will be 24 days after the speech. Let's try guessing where Joe will be in the polls.
pb's guess? -15.2.
Joe proved that, when he's juiced up, he can be energetic, even during normal sundowner hours. But, whatintheheck happened to Grandpa Joe? Apparently, that guy is dead.
If po, or Curt, doubted that they'd vote for him, bygolly, they ain't doubting now.
But, low-information voters? People tired of Swamp fussing and fighting? I don't think Joe helped himself.
We'll see.
By Easter? He'll have received a minor bump. Nuthin more.
