The case wasn't a rape case; it was a defamation case. As with any case, it is the jury's job to evaluate the credibility of the witnesses. Trump did not impress them as very credible.
Trump denied that he had ever met Carroll, accused her of trying to sell books, implied she had a political agenda, saying that Carroll was "totally lying" and that "she's not my type."
Here is where Trump shoots himself in the foot: Trump was shown this photograph, he mistakenly identified E. Jean Carroll as his second wife, Marla Maples, despite his first wife Ivana Trump also being in the picture; upon recognizing his mistake, he protested that the photo was "very blurry" (the photo is not blurry).

You are the one who insists, "it's a political vote". I just asked you for some evidence, maybe Rep. Schneider explaining his non-vote. Until then I withhold judgment.
