Funny. Clever, no doubt. Based on the way pb looks at things, this whole thing will be fun,...and soon. For pb, anyway.

pb predicts that the next chapter in the three-headed monster struggle against the trans political agenda and trans ideology will be the feminist struggle to reclaim women's only spaces.

You know, of course, about Riley Gaines creating a career for herself out of advocacy over inequalities suffered by biological women in athletics.

One thing I'm sure you don't know is that Megyn Kelly was invited to the recent Turning Point USA meeting a few weeks back to lead, essentially, a consciousness raising session among conservative college women, about the trans invasion into women's "spaces." Not just sports. Not just public restrooms. Not only women's locker rooms. (If you white, limousine lib progressives don't know who Charlie Kirk is yet, study up. Baha.) [See the effin video] EFFIN awesome!

Another thing, I'm sure, Donna and po and all you trans-philes here and in the wider world? You haven't watched the movie, WHAT IS A WOMAN? But, millions in the anti-TQ LGB movement, the old-school Title IX Feminist world and "fascistic and disgusting" "MAGA Republican" "Christian theocrat" mafia have watched it...and they'll never be the same.

BTW, Donna. What IS a woman?

What's happening to feminism because of the invasion of the trans political agenda and trans ideology will, pb predicts, be a big story by the time the 024 political brouhaha kicks up.

So, thanks, Donna. And, keep laughing...

...you'll have to. We can laugh together.

I don't know why you're trying to paint me and my wife as unreasonable on issues pertaining to transwomen and naturally born women after we've come out so strongly against transwomen competing with them.

Oh wait, I do know why. Because you're an asshole.

  3. by HatetheSwamp on July 29, 2023 8:12 am

    Donna,

I was haranguing on supporters of the trans political agenda and trans ideology. I think that, for the most part, you're one of them.

But, please clarify...because you aren't clear in entering this thread. You're opposed to women's private space being invaded in Italy in the Miss Italy contest?

That's not how I read you.

Me?, I think it's funny but I think most things that come up here are funny. But, my sense is that many old-school feminists aren't laughing.

  4. by Donna on July 29, 2023 8:43 am

Unlike the issue in athletics, transwomen competing against naturally born women in beauty pageants don't have an advantage over them - in fact they have a disadvantage. So of course I'm okay with that.

As for the issue regarding "women's spaces", as a post-op transwoman who is legally female (I changed my birth certificate, social security records, college transcript, and I also obtained a legal change of sex), of course I think I should have access to all spaces designated as "women's". Apparently you don't agree with that. Or maybe you do, IDK - you tell me.

  5. by Indy! on July 29, 2023 11:13 am

On Twitter there is a large contingent of feminists (and just regular women) against the trans movement. They make a good argument that if women have to adjust to transwomen it's just another way for men to assert power over women. The trans situation has basically created the need for another women's movement and it's been happening for awhile. We know this because - as peebs noted - Megyn Kelly already sees it as way to inflate her audience numbers. When the opportunists step in - you know it's a thing. 😉

  6. by Donna on July 30, 2023 8:10 am

I agree with their charge vis-a-vis transwomen athletes, sort of. Like all transwomen, transwomen athletes have a female gender identity, so it isn't "men" inserting themselves, it's male bodies. It's like allowing naturally born women athletes to take testosterone.

  7. by HatetheSwamp on July 30, 2023 10:33 am

...of course I think I should have access to all spaces designated as "women's". Apparently you don't agree with that. Or maybe you do, IDK - you tell me.

Personally, I'm agnostic. I ain't any kind of woman. I don't really care.

The thing I do here on SS that irritates some is to note the progression of trends in hot-button issues...without expressing opinion.

The old-school feminist wing of the movement that is opposed to the trans political agenda and trans ideology, these days, is objecting to trans people invading women's metaphorical space. I think that it's increasingly likely that the next round of bills proposed to protect others from trans intrusion may, very well, be those laws.

In this case, the Miss Universe pageant is a business... the very capitalism that you think so little of. This is a matter of marketing a product so that it's profitable. It'll be interesting to note how this plays out in the free market.

Interestingly, the Miss Universe pageant may Bud Light itself if it ain't careful.

I see a tussle coming. I won't predict an outcome.

"Personally, I'm agnostic. I ain't any kind of woman. I don't really care." - Hts

Agnostic? I'm asking for your opinion, not whether or not you believe something.

    Mine ^

  10. by HatetheSwamp on July 30, 2023 12:58 pm

    From the Greek. Gnosis=knowledge. A=not.

    Agnostic. I dunno.

  11. by Donna on July 30, 2023 1:12 pm

Well the law is on my side.

  12. by HatetheSwamp on July 31, 2023 3:17 am

    Donna,

The law? You're the one who brought our attention to all those fascistic and disgusting laws.

  13. by Donna on July 31, 2023 6:45 am

The law that's on my side is neither fascistic nor disgusting. Are you disagreeing with me? Sounds like you are.

  14. by HatetheSwamp on July 31, 2023 11:06 am

    No. I'm not disagreeing.

What pb's saying is that the laws currently being written ain't on your side.

Part of this is the question of how this Supreme Court will decide on the constitutionality of these new laws.

Based on the decisions of the last two years, I wouldn't be confident were I you.

  15. by Donna on July 31, 2023 11:26 am

Which laws that are supposedly being written would affect me, Hts?

  16. by HatetheSwamp on July 31, 2023 11:30 am

    Donna,

Huh!!!!!? You are the one who, originally, brought up the hundreds of bills being proposed in 30Some states which you've described as "fascistic and disgusting" and "anti-trans." What are you asking me?

  17. by Donna on July 31, 2023 11:41 am

The laws I characterized as fascistic and disgusting are the ones where the state government inserts itself between doctor and patient, or in the case of a minor, doctor and the patient's parents or guardians and outlaws. Those state laws don't affect me as I'm not a minor. And besides, I'm post-op.

Got anything else for me to waste my time on?

  18. by HatetheSwamp on July 31, 2023 12:50 pm

    Oy!

So, unless a law doesn't impact you directly and personally, you don't give a d@ng!!!!!?

    Yikes!

  19. by Donna on July 31, 2023 12:55 pm

Of course not. I took "not on your side" to be a reference to me personally which perhaps wasn't what you meant.

  20. by HatetheSwamp on July 31, 2023 2:09 pm

I meant it to refer to support of the trans political agenda and trans ideology.

  21. by oldedude on July 31, 2023 7:58 pm
Donna- The laws I characterized as fascistic and disgusting are the ones where the state government inserts itself between doctor and patient, or in the case of a minor, doctor and the patient's parents or guardians and outlaws. Those state laws don't affect me as I'm not a minor. And besides, I'm post-op.

I was a little confused there also. I think I was thinking of your wife more than you that was "pulling a po" on any law that might, sorta, almost, kinda, hold any restrictions on anyone. It may be my bad, or not. I dunno right now. I'm not throwing a stone, I'm asking.
    Thanks.

  22. by Donna on August 1, 2023 7:56 am

od - What I said there which you quoted was for Hts. I don't understand what your question is.

  23. by Donna on August 1, 2023 8:00 am

Hts: I don't support agendas unless I agree with everything on an agenda, which hasn't happened, as there have always been agenda items I've disagreed with. I consider each issue independently.

  24. by Indy! on August 1, 2023 10:54 am

I don't know if this was an answer to my post...

    Donna:
"I agree with their charge vis-a-vis transwomen athletes, sort of. Like all transwomen, transwomen athletes have a female gender identity, so it isn't "men" inserting themselves, it's male bodies. It's like allowing naturally born women athletes to take testosterone."

...but if it was - the VERY BASIC argument (iow - the short version) is transwomen have not lived the female experience no matter what they do to change themselves. I think you would be very interested in what they have to say, Donna because you have an open mind. There are similar overlapping thought processes with the crowd that don't believe trans folks belong in the LGB grouping. I didn't get involved in the conversations because I don't feel it's my place and I'm not educated enough - but there were plenty in my feed because of the crowd I was hanging with over there. So I would read what they had to say.

  25. by Donna on August 1, 2023 12:36 pm

"...but if it was - the VERY BASIC argument (iow - the short version) is transwomen ave not lived the female experience no matter what they do to change themselves." - Indy

I get that and I agree. My objection to transwomen atheletes competing with cis women (naturally born women), though, is about fairness to cis women atheletes. I'm okay with transwomen who didn't go through male puberty, though, but there aren't many of them out there.

  26. by Indy! on August 1, 2023 3:21 pm

The rub between you and the "new women's movement" I referred to is your last sentence. They don't feel the way you do about that - that is where they feel men are exerting their power over women.

  27. by Donna on August 1, 2023 3:39 pm

Well I certainly am not exerting my power over cis women (or anyone), nor do I think many transwomen are. There will always be some assholes who do things like that, though.

I think that if not for the transwomen atheletes flap, there'd be very little hostility out there towards TG people. I transitioned 25 years ago, but I didn't feel any of this resentment towards people like me until a couple of years ago.

  28. by Indy! on August 1, 2023 4:21 pm

You're thinking more literal than they are. I can't speak for them, but the argument is compelling. But the same way "cis women" are being replaced on the field of athletics - so too are they being replaced in other traditional female roles by trans women.

  29. by Donna on August 2, 2023 7:46 am

LOL! Cis Men have been doing that for many decades. I think those women have a problem with men in general.
