Back during the days of the old forum, I splained to the posting gang that my wife and I bought an apartment in a continuous care retirement community. The apartment's smallish but nice and new...carefree living and, because we have no children, when our health declines we're guaranteed care. Thinking about the future.
Lately, on Friday afternoons, we've been volunteering to register visitors to the assisted living and nursing care parts of the community. All visitors must have their temperature taken and must answer the standard COVID screening questions.
Normally, when we arrive for the beginning of afternoon visiting hours, a crowd is waiting to be given permission to enter. Yesterday, there was one guy.
Come to find out that, for a few days, visiting had been closed off to half of the facility because of an outbreak of RSV.
About 20 minutes later, an executive of the home walked out to splain to us a vaccinated member of the staff had just tested positive for COVID-19. Over the course of an hour, chaos reigned.
In the end, that entire facility was placed in quarantine. And, while we remained in place...now turning away visitors, members of staff were entering to be retested for COVID. One smiled and told us that she tested negative. Who knows about the rest?
But, gang, a vaccinated person tested positive!
Have you checked the national COVID stats!!!!!?
Oy vey!
It seems that we're in for more drama.
