"The weaponization of federal law enforcement represents a mortal threat to a free society," Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, Trump's biggest adversary in the Republican primary, tweeted on Thursday.

Sen. Tim Scott, another 2024 Trump challenger, decried "weaponization" as he told Fox News: "What we see is a justice system where the scales are weighted."

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy pledged to "hold this brazen weaponization of power accountable."

Rep. Jim Jordan, one of Trump's biggest allies on Capitol Hill, sent a letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland Friday requesting more documents related to the Mar-a-Lago search.

"The indictment creates, at the minimum, a serious appearance of a double standard and a miscarriage of justice…" Jordan wrote, calling the indictment "politically motivated prosecution."

"When can rich, powerful white guys ever catch a break?"

    Duh.

Ask Hunter Biden...and the Enabler-in-Chief, "that feckless dementia-ridden piece of crap." Baha baha baha

  2. by Ponderer on June 11, 2023 6:21 am

Bill, come on! You read the indictment. Given what you must at least admit at this point in time is a good chance that Trump intentionally and illegally withheld those documents, intentionally and illegally ignored legitimate subpoenas for those documents, illegally and intentionally obstructed the lawful retrieval of those documents, and illegally and intentionally lied and misled the authorities about those documents (all elements of the indictment), how can you suggest that he must be allowed to get away with all those crimes or it's "political"? And how would letting him get away with those crimes not political?

And lemme stop you right here with the Biden crap. You've got nothing of any legal substance on him or his son at all, so quit your bitching about them until you have something that you can get ANY court of law to even look at without laughing.

If Biden or his son had done anything illegal that could actually be prosecuted as a crime, the Trump administration woulda been on them like piranha. Wouldn't they have? Don'tcha think? I mean why wouldn't they have?

    po,

When Joe Biden was a Senator, he stole classified documents. A Special Counsel is in the middle of an investigation of his actions. Period. Even in the universe you center. Biden stored some of them in his garage right beside of his gas guzzling hot rod.

I'm saying that when the Special Counsel announces that "that feckless dementia-ridden piece of crap" won't be charged, all h, e, double hockey sticks will break loose.

I'll repeat. I despise Trump. I think that he's despicable. I support Ron DeSantis for President. I ain't one of your mind-numbed "MAGA Republican" "Christian theocrats."

But I know you. I chided you during the Derek Chauvin George Floyd trial for demanding Chauvin be punished even before the prosecution closed its case.
You are, without a doubt, the first person on SS who'd join a lynch mob...

    ...as you're proving AGAIN!

What you and I have is the work of a skilled prosecutor, telling one side of the Trump story. And, as you always do,...you've already strung up the noose...

I, as I always am, am a Bill of Rights, personal liberty, innocent until proven guilty, person.

"When Joe Biden was a Senator, he stole classified documents." -Hate

You are entitled to that opinion of course. It has no legal substance whatsoever though, as it has already been deemed to not have been done intentionally. And Biden complied with all legal requirements upon the discovery that he had them. Exactly like Pence did. Neither committed any crime. I'm really sorry that pisses the livingshit off of you.

You have absolutely no evidence whatsoever that Biden or Pence intentionally took and kept those documents. The intentionality is where the actual crime lies.

And there is a cacophony of blatant evidence in the indictment, which you must have read, that displays Trump's intentions to keep those classified and top-secret documents he illegally took from the White House. I'm sorry, but there just is. You can't simply wish it all away.

Your MAGA Republican powers are of no use in this case, Bill. You can't just say, "Pay no attention to all that meaningless evidence...". That ain't gonna work.

  5. by Ponderer on June 11, 2023 8:14 am

"A Special Counsel is in the middle of an investigation of his actions. Period.' -Hate

Fine. And until anyone hears of a single piece of evidence that he intentionally kept those documents, you've got absolutely nothing at all to talk about.

Whereas we've got this indictment... You've read the indictment I'm sure. By now. Certainly. I mean... You wouldn't keep going on and on about a thing you knew noting at all about because you haven't even read the thing. Right Bill?

  6. by HatetheSwamp on June 11, 2023 8:20 am

    po,

He effin STOLE them from a SKIFF! Senators have no right to possess classified documents. Doesn't Rachel or the HuffPo tell you these things!!!!!? If those documents were in the Former Truck Driver's home or office, he clipped them! There's no other possibility. At all.

  7. by Ponderer on June 11, 2023 8:26 am

"He effin STOLE them from a SKIFF!" -Hate

And you are of course, as always, absolutely welcome to present any evidence that you have that he "stole" them........

  8. by Ponderer on June 11, 2023 8:27 am

Or that they were taken from a SCIF for that matter.............

  9. by HatetheSwamp on June 11, 2023 9:14 am

    po,

That's the only way a classified document could have ended up in Joe's possession from the years he was a Senator...unless, say, Ted Cruz stole them, then inched into Joe's office...AND, EFFIN GARAGE...under the darkness of night to frame him. Baha baha

  10. by Ponderer on June 11, 2023 9:49 am

    You are wrong, Bill.

Presidential Daily Briefs are highly classified, top secret documents given to the president every day.

"The President's Daily Brief (PDB), sometimes referred to as the President's Daily Briefing or the President's Daily Bulletin, is a top-secret document produced and given each morning to the president of the United States; it is also distributed to a small number of top-level US officials who are approved by the president. It includes highly classified intelligence analysis, information about covert operations, and reports from the most sensitive US sources or those shared by allied intelligence agencies. At the discretion of the president, the PDB may also be provided to the president-elect of the United States, between election day and inauguration, and to former presidents on request."

I can find nothing at all that says that the PDB must be delivered to the president and read in a SCIF.

In fact, I found the exact opposite:

"When the CIA briefer delivers the PDB (President’s Daily Brief) each morning to the Oval Office or wherever the president is, the National Security Adviser’s office is responsible for retrieving it at the end of the day and securing it in their SCIF in the West Wing or in the Situation Room."

Or that they were taken from a SCIF for that matter............. -me

"That's the only way a classified document could have ended up in Joe's possession " -Hate

Your statement is wrong. You are wrong, Bill. So is olde dude for that matter. Highly classified, top secret documents are in fact brought right to the president's desk, or I would expect even to a senator's desk. No SCIF required.

    So you are wrong.

Highly classified, top secret documents are in fact brought right to the president's desk, or I would expect even to a senator's desk. No SCIF required.

Yet again, as I said...🙄Because classified MUST, by definition, be read in a SCIF (The oval office is one of those places that is both). IF you're reading classified at an open desk, your desk is either in a SCIF, or you're in violation of the law.

Second time today you've attacked me/us, and haven't read sht that would make you sound semi-intelligent or reasonable. And you expect us to bend to your whim just because you say so? Even if you can't buy a clue that you actually have any more than your TDS to rely on? gimmieafukkingbreak.

Just some quick background on American government. Senators are members of the legislative branch of government. The President is in the executive branch.

SENATORS DON'T GET PRESIDENTIAL BRIEFINGS...because, THEY ARE SENATORS!

"That feckless dementia-ridden piece of crap" is under investigation, as I understand it, for possessing classified documents he purloined during his Senatorial career. That's a no-no.

  13. by oldedude on June 11, 2023 5:47 pm
There's that too. Thanks for the cover.

  14. by Ponderer on June 12, 2023 6:50 am

"IF you're reading classified at an open desk, your desk is either in a SCIF, or you're in violation of the law." -olde dude

Uh huh. So every morning, an intelligence officer brings the PDB "to the Oval Office or wherever the president is", saying, "Good morning, sir. Here is your daily crime that we are committing that we and all other administrations have always committed every morning of every day of their administrations...".

    Yeah, I don't think so.

You are just flat-out wrong, olde dude. I know it's gotta hurt really bad, but it's the truth. You're wrong. You are in error. Your assertion lacks any factual correctness. What you are saying is devoid of any connection to reality. Your opinion is counterfactual on this subject. What you are saying in untrue. What you say ain't so.

You are simply and factually wrong.

Oh and by the way, olde dude... You're wrong.

So please don't forget that you are wrong.

    Because you're wrong.

And Bill, you are not innocent or error yourself: No one ever said that presidential daily briefings are brought to senators' desks. You are wallowing in wrongness right along with olde dude.

I really wish that you had at least fourth grade reading and comprehension skills.

"Highly classified, top secret documents are in fact brought right to the president's desk, or I would expect even to a senator's desk." -me

As anyone can see, in no context whatsoever did I even imply that presidential daily briefs were ever brought to senators' desks.

Geez. I'd be happy at this point if you had second grade reading and comprehension skills, Bill.

  19. by Indy! on June 12, 2023 8:45 am
They're all swamp turds. The only reason Trump got indicted is because he's the most unlikable person on the planet.
