Jan. 6 Rioter Gets 4-Year Sentence for Throwing Fire Extinguisher at Cops

“Mob mentality is real, and I got caught up in it,” said Robert Sanford, who just caught a four-year prison sentence Tuesday for throwing a fire extinguisher at Capitol Police officers during the Jan. 6 insurrection.

Sanford is a retired first responder who worked as a firefighter in Chester, Pennsylvania. He was arrested shortly after storming the U.S. Capitol in January 2021 and is now telling the court he was duped into believing Donald Trump’s 2020 election conspiracy.

Sanford’s attorney, Andrew Stewart, even said Sanford was attending “cult deprogramming” therapy and is deeply remorseful for his actions.

“Even after he was incarcerated, he participated in regular discussions designed to challenge his ideology and belief structure,” Stewart said. These discussions, Steward argued, were to determine “why he developed the beliefs that led him to make the decisions that he did on Jan. 6.”

He's retired. Maybe he has dementia. Lots of geezers with Alzheimer's get violent.

You're not THE Hunter are you?

    Retired with dementia and Alzheimer's?

Are you describing Robert Sanford or the average Trump voter?

  3. by islander on April 12, 2023 6:35 am

I’m glad to see this guy is getting some help. I think this might make the American people see how dangerous this mental health issue is to our country, and it might bring about more awareness of just how widespread and serious problem this problem is.

Hopefully we'll now begin to allocate more of our resources to helping these people. The damage it can do to our country and to the people suffering from it can be seen right here on this board.

    Exactly! With the TDSrs!

Hey, Old Dud - question my old friend... Are you going to sign-up for WWIII? Cuz you know enlistments are down because kids aren't buying all these fake wars anymore.

Welcome, Hunter! Nice to see you again, Indy!.

Hunter, that's just a manifestation of Hate's classic "Hate the Swamp" brand of projection.

Yes od. This fellow, Robert Sanford, is a good example of the meaning of "TDS"!

By recognizing it I think you have take the first step in overcoming it!

    We're all rooting for you !!! 👍

I guess what's interesting is that I don't even like Trump. So I guess there's that... You might want to check your facts first. Too much weed? no memory? No frontal lobe?

  9. by Curt_Anderson on April 12, 2023 7:04 pm
"I guess what's interesting is that I don't even like Trump. So I guess there's that..."

But you voted for him twice and would again if he is he GOP nominee. I get that you don't like him. HTS thinks he's despicable. You two and many Trump voters are a like abused wives. You know Trump is no good yet you keep running back to him.

  10. by oldedude on April 13, 2023 6:17 am
No I don't like him. Period. end of story. But is dislike pedojoe more. And everyday, my dislike of this POS is supported.

Sad truth. Every Dem alternative has been...most likely will be...despicable-r.

The tragedy of American politics is that your side has no one who can trump Trump.

  12. by islander on April 13, 2023 6:42 am

We’re seeing more and more of those in the cult claim that they don’t really like Trump...I guess that’s a good thing since acknowledging what he is could be a first step on their road to recovery. They do however have a long way to go.

Most, even though they are saying they think Trump is despicable and/or they don’t even like him, are still unable to escape from the Trump cult and break free of his manipulative hold on them since the cult leader is a master at understanding them and exploiting the worst in them. By manipulating their fears and convincing them that despite his “imperfections” he is the type of leader they need now to save their way of life and to crush the liberals and progressives.

Of course, now they seem to be aware that it’s probably best (and easier for them) if they no longer try to come right out and defend Trump, a number of them are now claiming they like DeSantis, a guy formed from from same mold as Trump...but...they will unhesitatingly vote for Trump a third time if he is their party’s candidate.
They will, naturally, try to justify their strange behavior the only way they can, they have to try to convince others that "The other guy is worse" and that's why they have to vote for Trump !!! It's the old blame someone else defense for what they have done and are still doing.

    isle,

For a snowflake, you're definitely a glass is half full kinda dude.

pb's been despising Trump since before he beat Hillary. Yet, still, you hope...

    Bahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!

I think it's interesting they refuse to acknowledge any time either one of us says something that doesn't support Trump. But remember, anyone that doesn't think EXACTLY like them, is a Trumpster! I just laugh and move on from their stupidity.

My sole defenses of Trump have been LEGAL issues. I feel those apply to everyone, including that POC "president." Everyone, even if you hate them, has the same defense rights as the scuzzballs who rape little children (which is interesting the only one of them that's with me on that is Donna. mmmmm...).

  15. by HatetheSwamp on April 13, 2023 7:50 am

    OD,

I think that is their TDS talking. They're not that stupid, but they are impaired.

  16. by Ponderer on April 13, 2023 8:49 am

"Every Dem alternative has been...most likely will be...despicable-r.
    "
    -Hate

And this is a clear manifestation of your cultish delusion. That's what your cult requires you to think.

The idea that any Democrat who ran or will run against Trump being more despicable than him is just a reflexive reaction to honest, rationally examined reality.

Anyone who doesn't belong to your cult is, for you, automatically an evil, despicable villain. Because no matter how evil and despicable any Republicans demonstrably and constantly are, you must believe the Democrats to be a hundred times worse to help justify your abject fealty to the GOP. That's how cults work. Reality be damned. Your cult is always right.

Your religious adherence to your political party and it's ragingly asinine propagandist dogma about the "Commie Criminal Socialist Woke Groomer" party will absolutely not allow for even the remote possibility of someone outside of it being anything but far worse.

I know you that you probably think that you've been successful in hiding this fact from everyone with the cutsie way you try to obfuscate around and deny everything, but you're like an open book, Bill. You and all your despicable fellow Trump voters. You don't fool anyone.

  17. by Ponderer on April 13, 2023 8:57 am

"I think it's interesting they refuse to acknowledge any time either one of us says something that doesn't support Trump." -olde dude

Well it's only logical that we wouldn't give you much credit for the exceedingly rare time(s) that you deny your dedication to him and to the sociopathic political party that he is Lord over. I mean given that it's totally non sequitur to all the times that you abjectly and reflexively have supported and defended him and any heinous and/or felonious act that he has ever committed.

You're giving us the classic Republican "But look at all the examples of women that he didn't rape...!" defense. It wallows in absurd lameness, od.
