Attacking through the IRS.

This is straight out of Obama's Chicagoland political thuggery playbook.

Federal agents were dispatched to Taibbi’s residence the very same day that the investigative journalist appeared before the Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government, also chaired by Representative Jordan.

Please Good German that!

HtS, did you read the article carefully? especially this part: Taibbi’s initial 2021 return was rejected twice despite his accountant using an “IRS-provided pin number.” Have you ever heard of an IRS provided pin number? That would only happen if there were some suspicious activity going on.

Either his accountant kept screwing up, or there were some identities theft attempts going on. The Twitter files have been a nothing burger. I sincerely doubt any government agency felt the need to “get” Matt Taibbi.

We got notified of a 2019 glitch in our taxes two months ago. We don't have the means to fight the IRS. We just paid what we thought was not ours to pay.

Why did they get more IRS agents? IRSCI is notoriously small (well, it used to be). They mostly dealt with CCE and RICO cases and were a great asset to that sort of case. They're the ones that could show the "assets" the dirtbag had were obtained by illegal means. Ergo, the forfeiture was a much better hammer than usual. The banana republic stated this was to keep middle class workers more inline with tax code which no one really understands anyway. So chickenshtting small businesses is a way of ensuring they go out of business. Just what the Marxist Mafia wants.

I don't "question" them arriving on the day he was testifying. I expect that out of the pedojoe third-world banana republic.

I wonder what would have happened if they walked in on pedojr for the million dollars he defrauded the government in unpaid taxes. Interesting though, no visible means of support and he mysteriously paid it back...... mmmmmmm.......

    Exactly, OD!

    Life in a Banana Republic.

This is a direct shot across the bow. A huge warning to Taibbi to shut up and color, all inside the lines.

In curt's post, he said the forms had been rejected twice. So we know he was talking to them. This was nothing less than intimidation. Pure and simple.

Even an ace Good German like Curt can't take the banana stain out of this one.

Other than possible identity theft, we don't know why or even if the IRS visited Matt Taibbi. According to some reports the IRS searched Taibbi's home. If that's true, there would have been search warrant issued by a judge. It shouldn't be too hard to discern the reason why.

According to HtS's link, "Taibbi added that the issue at stake is not “monetary” and that the federal agency actually owes him a “considerable” amount of money." What sort of "intimidation" returns money to the supposed target?

Since the Twitter Files have been been a nothing-burger at most, why would any government agency feel the need to tell another agency to "go after" Taibbi?

Republicans held a hearing to prove Twitter's bias against them. It backfired in spectacular fashion
(CNN)Matt Taibbi, one of the journalists Musk handpicked last year to comb through Twitter's internal messages for evidence of free speech violations, said himself that "there is no evidence — that I've seen — of any government involvement in the laptop story."

Ironically, the hearing appeared to reveal that Twitter had acquiesced to Trump and changed its policies after it concluded that he had violated its rules.

As I've cautioned you two, don't get your hopes up waiting for the GOP House committees to reveal some smoking gun.

The IRS and I went around and around and around settling my mom's estate. Many letters. Phone calls. They NEVER sent anyone to my home! Not even close.

This was an act of intimidation. It's classic Chicagoland. Joe learnt well...or, his string pullers did.

FBI pressured Twitter, sent trove of docs hours before Post broke Hunter laptop story

The FBI pressured Twitter to suppress The Post’s blockbuster scoop about Hunter Biden’s laptop by warning it could be part of a Russian “hack and leak” operation — even while knowing the concern was unfounded, according to internal company records made public Monday.

The latest release of the “Twitter Files” authorized by new owner Elon Musk also provided more examples of former top FBI lawyer Jim Baker’s role in cracking down on The Post’s reporting while he worked as Twitter’s deputy general counsel, a job from which Musk fired him earlier this month.

Documents posted on Twitter by independent journalist Michael Shellenberger showed that Twitter’s former head of trust and safety, Yoel Roth, was contacted by FBI Agent Elvis Chan just hours before The Post published the first laptop story on Oct. 14, 2020.

Chan used a special, one-way communication channel to send Roth and at least one other person 10 documents on the night of Oct. 13, 2020, and asked them to confirm receipt, Shellenberger found.

Approximately two-and-a-half hours earlier, Hunter Biden attorney George Mesires had called and emailed Delaware computer repair shop owner John Paul Mac Isaac after learning from The Post that the first article based on files recovered from the abandoned laptop would be published the next day.

Geez, I hope that the IRS intimidates me like that---returning a tax overpayment. Anyway, Matt Taibbi didn't seem particularly intimidated when he testified before Congress.

"The fact that Dem elite/permanent Washington is able & willing to use the power of law enforcement to go after political opponents, everyone from parents attending school board meetings to a former president, is evidence that our country is no longer a functioning democracy or a truly free country. It’s time to vote out these anti-democracy politicians and take back our country."

Since the abominable indictment, the term "Washington uniparty" has appeared in the media sources I trust.

    Tulsi is bang on.

So the interesting thing is the reporting on this are from MSN to stuff like freeRepublic, etc. So it's like the libertarian party. It's a separate idea. Again, you and I will enjoy the reads (or maybe be a tad pissed (American version). The rest will just get disgusted at what's said, because it's about them.
