A bill that would open doctors who provide gender-affirming care to Arkansas minors to new, extreme liabilities passed the House and now heads to Gov. Sarah Sanders’ desk.

This is a sinister workaround aimed at achieving the same result as the straight ban.
(Talk about your objective journalism.)

The bill passed the State House 76-17.

According to a US NEWS article:

The new law is among a growing number of bills targeting transgender people, who have faced increasingly hostile rhetoric at statehouses. At least 175 bills targeting trans people have been introduced in statehouses so far this year, the most in a single year, according to the Human Rights Campaign.

So, pt's essentially bang on on that part.

I looked at both of the cites. Both of these cites are from left sided papers. So consider that.

I don't think it was a good thing to threaten the doctors. If you make it illegal, it's illegal. Two year wait. Maybe not a bad thing for a child to do. Stable psychological profile. Given this the lead up to the changes have to be a complete cluster of emotions, why not work your way through that?

If this were a law for an adult (legally speaking 18 y/o+), I think it's a complete overstep of the government. And it isn't. This is about children. It means that a child can start processing their emotions and try the lifestyle out for a couple of years. Once they're 18, They're free to do whatever they want. I still don't think that is "horrible." I listened to what Donna said. I understand there are things that are harder to do the later you start the process. I think the timeframe is still not horrible.

    OD,

This approach to protecting minors is iffy for me. We know that grooming, according to the dictionary definition, i.e., "the practice of preparing or training someone for a particular purpose or activity," takes place every day among minors struggling with trans issues. I understand that much of it is well intentioned. But, when the preferred solution is powerful meditation and unalterable surgery? Minors must be protected. In my opinion.

What's needed is reasoned conversation. From both sides. That's not happening...yet.

I agree with that facet of the problem. Like both of us have stated over and over again. This is not a one dimensional issue, one "thing" will fix it all.

To me, this is more about the child AND parents AND medical professionals part. More post-grooming issues.

I've said this many times. The way the schools are teaching this gives groomers of all genders grooming opportunities to their gender preferences. Yet again. Grooming is a psychological issue of power over another person, in this case for sexual fulfillment. The sexual fulfillment may be just getting a person to change. The perp may consider a "win" for their side. Or it can be getting the person to have the feeling of power to seduce another person.
