Two adjectives about the NYT article. Woke. Snowflake.

A few comments on the speech. Most prominently, Fox News carried it live...in prime time. That surprised pb.

pb didn't watch that. He did catch a few minutes of the speech on RSBN on the app.

(As you know, I support Ron DeSantis for President. DeSantis boycotted CPAC? At the very least, he didn't appear. Still, he came in second in the straw poll...but a distant second. But, second.)

Still. No one speaks truth in the way Trump does. He's confident and appears to believe it. He mesmerizes a crowd in the way no American politician in my looooooooong lifetime.

Trump always hits all the hot buttons. He makes the blood boil.

And...and read the picayune so-called "fact" checking in the NYT article?...over here, we're smart enough to understand that Trump is a master communicator who employs rhetorical tools to make his point. I always claim that progressive SwampLovers ain't stupid but, around Trump, they seem to be idiots...every single one of them.

pb's bottom line: Trump's nomination seems to be inevitable. pb thinks that the only GOP question for 024 is, who's Veep? Tusli? Nikki?

pb thinks Trump is despicable...

...but he does enjoy the way he strips you progressive SwampLovers of every stitch of reason.

    HtS,
It would’ve been a lot shorter article if the New York Times reported on all the FACTUAL statements that Donald Trump, and made in his CPAC speech. Here are some but not all of the falsehoods Donald Trump made yesterday.

Mr. Trump inaccurately claimed to have “shut down” unauthorized border crossings. (The number declined during the pandemic, but began to increase again in the final months of his presidency.)

He falsely claimed that “no other president had ever gotten anything from China, not even 10 cents.” (In the decade before Mr. Trump took office, the United States collected $8 billion to $14 billion per year from duties on Chinese imports.)

He misleadingly characterized members of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization as “delinquent” on payments. (All member nations pay their bills.)

He falsely said that “no one ever heard of” the Nord Stream 2 pipeline before he raised it as an issue and halted its construction. (His predecessors all opposed the project.)

He misleadingly claimed that the Obama administration had only supplied Ukraine with “blankets.” (It committed more than $600 million in security assistance to Ukraine.)

He falsely claimed to have “completed” building a wall along the southern border. (It has not been finished.)

He claimed to have presided over the “best economy in history.” (Average growth, even before the coronavirus pandemic decimated the economy, was lower under Mr. Trump than under former Presidents Bill Clinton and Ronald Reagan.)

    So,......

    You watched the speech?Bahahahahahahahahahaha!

    HtS,
Your asking me if I watched Trump's speech has a familiar ring. Other cultists in the past responding to my skepticism and disdain have challenged me to read the compiled work of Lyndon LaRouche, L. Ron Hubbard, Meher Baba, their Jehovah Witness publications, etc.

No, I didn't watch Trump's speech which was reportedly about 100 minutes long. It apparently was a litany of lies and grievances.

I did see this excerpt. It is the sort of demagoguery that Mussolini would have been comfortable saying.
"In 2016, I declared I am your voice. Today I add: I am your warrior. I am your justice, and for those who have been wronged and betrayed, I am your retribution,"

"In 2016, I declared I am your voice. Today I add: I am your warrior. I am your justice, and for those who have been wronged and betrayed, I am your retribution,"

Geez, did he really say that, Curt? I can't say I am surprised. But still, it's just when you see it actually being said in so many words.

The man was born in the wrong millennium.

    Ponderer,
He really did. It's no exaggeration to call Trump and his supporters "fascists".

  6. by Ponderer on March 5, 2023 12:44 pm

Nor is it an exaggeration to call their assemblage a cult.

    No exaggeration at all.

Right. Still, you quote it with authority. You are the quintessential progressive SwampLover.

And, you quote it through a vicious TDS "news" source. You are the quintessential progressive SwampLover.

CNN also fact checked Trump’s CPAC speech. Even by Trump standards the speech was wildly dishonest. Voters might expect some puffery from candidates, but why do people put up with out and out lying to their face?

The weekend was so dominated by Trump and his henchmen they call the event TPAC. His most formidable rival, Ron DeSantis wasn’t even there. Despite Trump permeating the event, he only managed 62% in the straw poll. Apparently nearly 40% of his most rabid supporters are ready to move on.

It might’ve helped Trump had they taken a straw poll before his speech.

You'll have to add Yahoo News to your "Swamp media" list. They are reporting on Trump's lies too.

"Still. No one speaks truth in the way Trump does." -One Of Donald Trump's Most Devoted Cult Members And Dedicated Supporters

As with transgenderism, truth is a subject that you are woefully ignorant of and are in no position to discuss with any expectation of respect.

    Curt,

I wish I could find a way to believe that you're joking:

"Biden makes unproven claim that he was a civil rights activist during Selma speech"

    "President Biden’s Slander at Selma"

Heck. From MSNBC: "Biden's 'Bloody Sunday' speech was offensive pandering"

    And, the beat goes on...
