There's no doubt. The exciting place to be these days is the GOP.

Even if Trump does run again in 024, he won't last forever. And, sooner or later, the GOP will have to find a post Trump identity. Populist? Some version of conservative?

    I believe that Cheney and Kinzinger are following their own ethics and Republican principles and are sincere. I also think it's a good bet on their part. Trump is a loser. He lost the election. He lost access to social media. He lost and is losing in the courtroom. His entourage is losing in the courts. He is losing in the media...even FOX News has begun to fact-check him real time with their Chyrons.

    I agree with you about Cheney. I'm not familiar enough with Kinzinger to pass judgment.

    I thought the second impeachment was rammed through the House, that the mostly peaceful gathering on January 6 wasn't adequately investigated...and, now Nancy Pelosi seems to agree. She thinks it's necessary to have a January 6 Commission. I would not have joined with Cheney on impeachment. The second impeachment was a lynch mob thing, in my opinion.

    You know that I despise Trump and that I think he's despicable.

    I do tend to think well-ish of Cheney, though I do think that she has TDS. She's a, maybe THE, leading voice of post-Reagan GOP conservatives. The day will come when there will be a tussle between the GOP conservatives and the Trump inspired populists.

    I'm looking forward to seeing how that goes. I think Cheney's future will probably be in leading her side in the battle for the future of the GOP when Trump is no longer a factor.

    As for Trump being a loser. Uh uh. Watch his next rally to see how early people show up and how many show up. He draws a huuuge crowd and his supporters seem to enjoy being with each other as much as they want to hear him speak. Right. I don't get that, either.

    Did you catch the results of the latest CPAC straw poll? Trump absolutely kicked butt! He drew 70% of the vote. Desantis was a distant second at 21%. I don't think anyone else got more than 1%.

    I promise that I'll vote against Trump in the 024 primary, if he runs. But, count on it. He'll be the GOP candidate in 024 if he wants to be.

    And, with the new election laws, Joe won't beat him...if he's still alive and can still remember his name.

    January 6 was a mostly peaceful gathering in the same way school shootings are mostly peaceful school visits. Ok, a dozen kids were gunned done, but what about the hundreds of students and teachers who were NOT shot?

    A hyper-minute fraction of the people who attended Trump's rally that day participated in the ugliness. For most attendees, as I've said, the rally was more like a Love-In than anything else.
