DeSantis wanted to ban guns at event, but not to be blamed, emails show
As Gov. Ron DeSantis prepared for an election night party in downtown Tampa last year, city officials received a surprising — and politically sensitive — request.

The Republican governor’s campaign wanted weapons banned from his victory celebration at the city-run Tampa Convention Center, a city official said in emails obtained by The Washington Post. And the campaign suggested that the city take responsibility for the firearms ban, the official said — not the governor, who has been a vocal supporter of gun rights.

“DeSantis/his campaign will not tell their attendees they are not permitted to carry because of the political optics,” Chase Finch, the convention center’s safety and security manager, said in an Oct. 28 email to other city officials about the request, which was conveyed by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE), a state police agency led by a DeSantis appointee.

DeSantis values his life more than he values the lives of Floridians, which isn't a good look for a governor and aspiring president.

My guess is the Florida Department of Safety, FBI, and Secret Service told him to do this like every politician does at these events. Most of the times now, you have to go through a magnetometer to get in.

    OD,

Have you noticed that the deranged are dividing their insanity these days?

I was thinking of their equivalencies as I was typing. Let's see.... going out to a restaurant is the same as making sure someone doesn't get murdered. Yeah... that's the ticket!

If the gun ban at DeSantis's speaking event was a justifiable exception to Florida's gun laws, then why doesn't he admit that he's the one who wanted the ban?

Y'know, BUT TRUMP! BUT TRUMP!, has a lot more zing to it than BUT DESANTIS! BUT DESANTIS!!!!!

    Bahahahahahahahahahaha!

BTW, that gay Guy Curt never heard of is convinced that the progressive SwampMedia is pumping up Trump at DeSantis’s expense because it's poopin its metaphorical pants over the prospect of Ron facing off against the Flatulent Fool!

"If the gun ban at DeSantis's speaking event was a justifiable exception to Florida's gun laws, then why doesn't he admit that he's the one who wanted the ban?"

Like I said before. Maybe it wasn't him that did it.

And maybe the Washington Post was correct when they reported "The Republican governor’s campaign wanted weapons banned from his victory celebration at the city-run Tampa Convention Center, a city official said in emails obtained by The Washington Post. And the campaign suggested that the city take responsibility for the firearms ban, the official said — not the governor, who has been a vocal supporter of gun rights."

My point is there are people like your wife, indy, isle, curt, et al that would consider killing him if their media tells them to. The FBI knows about unhinged sheep that believe they are doing the right thing by murdering him. So does Secret Service.

As the most vocal supporter of gun rights on the site, I agree with the Intel and Law Enforcement Experts. I don't see anything wrong with this decision.

Back to why curt did this. It was to show that going to a restaurant during covid (ala CA "governor") is the same as an assassination. I think he truly thinks that. He's shown time and time again that he doesn't care about human life, but is a mere mouthpiece about it.

"DeSantis values his life more than he values the lives of Floridians, which isn't a good look for a governor and aspiring president."

That is, without a doubt, the stupidest thing you've ever said.
