Gang,

The NYT broke this. But the SwampMedia is on this like flies on $hit!

President Joe Biden and a small team of trusted advisers, including his sister Valerie, plotted to keep the discovery of classified documents a secret, betting that they could quietly handle the problem without it becoming public knowledge, a bombshell new report claimed on Friday.

For 68 days they succeeded. Then it blew up in their faces.

(Biden’s) plans backfired when CBS News reported on the existence of the Biden documents on January 9th, leading to a chain reaction that developed into a full-blown crisis for the White House where Biden's reputation took a hit, Republicans accused him of hypocrisy, and even Democrats questioned the administration's judgement in the matter.

Both their attempts to control the story and to handle the Justice Department failed: Attorney General Merrick Garland ultimately appointed a special counsel to look into the matter as he did for the Trump classified documents' case.

Good, looooooooong, juicy article and remember. CBS and NBC broke this and the NYT is now leading the reporting.

Joe Biden is a "feckless dementia-ridden piece of crap." And, now, it seems. Even the SwampMedia is singing that tune.

Oh, and check out the Eagles' Joe Biden parody. It brief but it's timely.

First off, there is absolutely no legal requirement that Biden (or Trump who also didn’t say anything until it was revealed) make a public announcement that they discovered that unknowingly or mistakenly they were holding classified documents outside a secure location. The law requires they return it all of course.

Second, the intelligence/security community does NOT WANT that information made public as it alerts our enemies to our security lapses and weaknesses.

That's your best Good German response? The reality that, by Clouseau's own admission, the documents issue came to light before the election and the Flatulent Fool's handlers were still doing their cover up more than two months later. The reality that the Former Trucker's gang trickle truthed the offense...AGAINST THE ELECTORATE...after they were busted, is the story.

"That feckless dementia-ridden piece of crap's" sanctimonious mockery of OrangeMan's irresponsibility on 60 Minutes is a bell Joe will never un-ring. That Corvette garage line? Historic! "No regrets?" "No there there!" Talk about being tone deaf!

To ol pb, this is the closest thing to the Watergate stink he's sniffed in 50 years. And, day by day, the administration's flubs continue unabated.

You are right. No legal requirement. But in a democracy, bahahahahahahahahahaha, what the demented fool has done almost always leads to disaster.

    "...AGAINST THE ELECTORATE" --HtS

Ha ha! Had Biden said anything before the election your team might have won control of the Senate and more than a thin in edge in the House. People underestimate Joe Biden's political acumen. It would have been political malpractice for him to have said anything about his classified documents. Biden did the legal and right thing by reporting it to NARA and the DOJ and returning the documents. That's something Trump should have done.

Even with this "scandal" his poll numbers have not taken a dive. As you noted, Americans see Biden's handling of classified docs as inappropriate — but not criminal.

I predict that this will be non-story soon.

    Curt,

The reason Joe's lost, for the moment at least, the SwampMedia...and even some Dems is that, as the NYT points out, 68 days later CBS told the truth and, only then, did "that feckless dementia-ridden piece of crap" begin to trickle truth. It seems to me that Clouseau's amazing political acumen is from the Nixon school. What was Nixon's Electoral College score five months after the Watergate break in? 500? 510? More?
