Fox News had four of the top five shows in cable news for the quarter, while MSNBC’s “Rachel Maddow Show” took fourth place. “Tucker Carlson Tonight” averaged 2.808 million, “Hannity” averaged 2.586 million, “The Five” averaged 2.53 million, “Maddow” averaged 2.270 million and “The Ingraham Angle” averaged 2.093 million.
The second quarter also marked the first full quarter Greg Gutfeld’s “Gutfeld!” aired in the 11 p.m. ET time slot. It was the No. 1 cable news show in total viewers for the hour and surpassed every CNN show in total viewers. It averaged 1.5 million viewers, of whom 296,000 were in the demo.
So, Fox has 4 of 5 of the top shows. Even the 5:00 show beats every other non Fox show. And, the much maligned 11:00 GUTFELD! tops each and every CNN show.
Speaking of CNN, Trump mocked CNN during his Saturday night rally speech and followed that with a statement on Tuesday:
"Trump issued a statement on Tuesday taking aim at some of his media adversaries, singling out TV hosts like CNN anchor Jake Tapper, and pointing out how CNN's ratings "are down 70%,"calling it a "wonderful thing to see!"
The gang CNN of hosts must be feeling some pressure from management. Jake Tapper, for example, actually responded to Trump with a tweet:
"If I had incited and inspired a deadly insurrection and attempt to undo American democracy I might not be out there bragging about how many viewers it had. On any channel. But maybe that’s just me, I’m a different breed of cat."
Insane. Paranoid.
Check out the NYT article linked below. Fox has made a surprising, to me anyway, shift since the election.
Fox had become increasingly "fair and balanced" as far as Trump is concerned. It wasn't Trumpaphobic like CNN and MSNBC but it called Arizona for Biden looooooong before any other network, as a shot across Trump's bow, as an act of war.
However, since the election mess settled, Fox has changed course on Trump. As the article points out, pro-Trump Foxers have been promoted and anti Trump voices have been either silenced or eliminated. Jedediah Bilah was fired as the babe on FOX AND FRIENDS WEEKEND and Juan Williams was moved out of the Fox hit, THE FIVE.
Clearly, Trump still controls cable news. And, CNN, especially, is being punished for its TDS.
