My prediction that Trump will sabotage his own defense during closing arguments.

Some of us figured that was the case. See first link below and the #5 comments which are mine. I said then "Agreed. Trump will be undone by his well known personality flaws: hubris, narcissism, entitlement mentality, erraticness and a disregard for norms."

(WaPo)Federal agents and prosecutors have come to believe former president Donald Trump’s motive for allegedly taking and keeping classified documents was largely his ego and a desire to hold on to the materials as trophies or mementos, according to people familiar with the matter.

As part of the investigation, federal authorities reviewed the classified documents that were recovered from Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home and private club, looking to see if the types of information contained in them pointed to any kind of pattern or similarities, according to these people, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss an ongoing investigation.

That review has not found any apparent business advantage to the types of classified information in Trump’s possession, these people said. FBI interviews with witnesses so far, they said, also do not point to any nefarious effort by Trump to leverage, sell or use the government secrets. Instead, the former president seemed motivated by a more basic desire not to give up what he believed was his property, these people said.

Incidentally, in other headlines from today:
Trump lawyers say he designated seized Mar-a-Lago documents ‘as personal records’ — DOJ says he can’t do that ‘simply by saying so’

(WaPo)Federal agents and prosecutors have come to believe...

    Bahahahahahahahahahaha, ahhhhhhhhhhh.

What authority! What fibbies and DOJ thugs BELIEVE!!!!!? Here's a note of constructive criticism, there, Curt: Change the category to HUMOR!

pb happens to BELIEVE this, too. But, c'mon man, gimme a break! How deranged by the Swamp do you people have to be to care what TDSers in the Flatulent Fool's DOJ and investigative bureau BELIEVE.

  2. by Donna on November 15, 2022 6:55 am

Well who knows. In the absence of evidence, all we have are educated guesses. Seems like a reasonable guess.

So you disagree with their guess, Hts? What do you guess is the reason he made off with all of those documents?

  3. by HatetheSwamp on November 15, 2022 7:01 am

Donna, I do tend to agree. I actually said, "pb happens to BELIEVE this, too." It's that the WaPo so blandly reports what federal prosecutors and fibbies BELIEVE as if that's authoritative and, then, it's passed on without comment...

  4. by Donna on November 15, 2022 7:09 am

Huh? The author uses the word "believe". There's no pretense of fact being conveyed.

  5. by HatetheSwamp on November 15, 2022 7:25 am

No, it's your side's passive acceptance of Swamp belief that's the point.

  6. by Donna on November 15, 2022 7:30 am

But you agree with the author.

  7. by oldedude on November 15, 2022 7:35 am
I'm shocked this is actually newsworthy.

  8. by HatetheSwamp on November 15, 2022 7:39 am

I share the same OPINION. But, I know mine's on a barely informed...but better informed than any Blue MAGA here...opinion.

And I'll bet you also believe you're not being sanctimonious, right?

“The Real Reason Trump Runs-Pride and profit are bigger are bigger factors than policy—but there’s an even bigger reason... it’s not at all difficult to believe that Trump may be driven by ego, pride, and the competitive instinct; he hates to lose and seems most energized when attacking his potential rivals. He also craves attention, wants to be center stage, and fears losing his place to Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, who proved a big winner in last week’s election while Trump—via his many failed endorsees—proved a big-time loser. He’s desperate to get the blame off his back and onto someone else’s. And then there is greed. Trump is constantly looking for ways to mix politics and profit, and it’s likely that a “potential future president” can cut better deals than a mere “disgraced former president.” Yesterday, on the eve of his pre-announced announcement, news broke that his company signed a lucrative contract with a major Saudi developer to brand a golf-housing-hotel development in Muscat, Oman, with the Trump name...

...For all the merit of those explanations, though, they pale in comparison to another: He’s scared witless at the possibility of prosecution. It seems likely that indictments are on their way from Fulton County, Georgia, District Attorney Fani Willis (over Trump’s interference in the 2020 election in Georgia) and from Attorney General Merrick Garland (over Trump’s purloined national security secrets taken to Mar-a-Lago). By formally becoming a presidential candidate, Trump thinks he’ll get an edge on prosecutors. He craves his narrative: “Dems are trying to take down an announced Republican candidate for President. UNPRECEDENTED!” Translation should be unnecessary: “I’m a martyr! Defend me! Go after them.” Of course, it won’t matter to Fani Willis or the DOJ. He’s in their sights, and they’ll do what they do..." *
