I despise Trump. He's despicable.

Former President Donald Trump mocked Ron DeSantis at his Saturday night rally—calling the Florida governor “Ron DeSanctimonious.”

And hours later, Trump found himself in hot water with fellow conservatives who weren’t pleased that he’d taken aim at the increasingly popular DeSantis.

During his rally in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, while touting his poll numbers (from a month ago), Trump found an opening to take a swing at DeSantis, who’s quickly turned into an unofficial 2024 Republican presidential rival.

“There it is, Trump at 71. Ron DeSanctimonious at 10 percent,” Trump said. “Mike Pence at 7–oh, Mike Pence doing better than I thought.” (It’s the first time Trump’s tried out the nickname, but longtime ally Roger Stone—a fierce DeSantis critic—posted the dig about a week ago.)

The reactions to the Trump name-calling weren’t favorable in conservative circles.

“Calling it now, DeSantis is going to run, and he’s going to beat Trump badly,” Will Chamberlain, the publisher of Human Events and a right-wing lawyer, said in response to the Trump jab. “This is just weak.”

Right-wing Daily Wire pundit Matt Walsh also expressed frustration at Trump over the “dumb nickname.”

“Trump isn’t going to be able to take this one [DeSantis] down with a dumb nickname. He better have more than that up his sleeve,” he wrote. “Also, nice job launching your public attack against the most popular conservative governor in America three days before the midterms when we’re all supposed to be showing a united front.”

And, accounts of push back continue.

Honestly, all Trump did was give DeSantis a nickname. Something he did with his opponents in the GOP in 016. But, the backlash!!!!!? Oy!

pb's been clear about two things:

1. He supports Ron DeSantis for President.
2. He'll only vote for Trump when no reasonable alternative remains.

Donald Trump is despicable. He's a narcissist and a bully...and if the Dems can only propose a reasonable alternative...

Although I would hate to lose DeSantis as a governor, we do have a couple of heir-apparent's. one is the Lt Governor, Jeanette Nuñez. She's risen in the ranks of FL political scene and has been by DeSantis's side through Ida and the insurance debacle. And being a Latina in a state where Spanish is a legal language doesn't hurt. She's known to do speeches in the Cuban areas of Miami/ Dade County and other regions where Spanish is spoken by the majority of the folks.

So like you, I am pro- DeSantis (or anyone but Trump) in the primaries.
but taking a look at the scope of this debacle, would vote for anyone but a dim in the general election. When a self-described dictator (Bukele) laughs about how this administration is ruining the US and purposefully bringing the country to a dictatorship, it's time to change.

The GOP has a very looooooooong bench. DeSantis, Haley, Cruz, Tim Scott, who am I ignoring? Keri Lake and, if she wins, Tudor Dixon!!!!!

The Dems?, Kammy?, Mayor Pete?, that French Laundry hypocrite?, bahahahahahahahahahaha.

    I'd add Tulsi to that.

Yeah. Is she a GOP yet? She would be an amazing Veep candidate in 024...and, an amazing Veep.

Interestingly, Fox News Sunday spent a decent amount of time on the DeSanctimonious remark, noting that, in response, Mike Pompeo endorsed DeSantis.

    I abhor Trump. I think he's despicable!

I wonder how long it took Trump to come up with that one. Ron DeSantis doesn't come across as especially sanctimonious. Not to mention a lot of people don't what sanctimonious means.

In a SelectSmart.com Post exclusive, here are some of the insulting names that Trump rejected:
    1. Ron DeSanatorium
    2. Ron DeSandbagger
    3 Ron DeSanitary napkin

    Donna,

Why's DeSantis an a$$hole other than he disagrees with you?

  9. by Donna on November 7, 2022 7:40 am

Have you seen Ron's latest ad, the one that starts "On the 8th day, God created a fighter", which of course is Ron DeSantis? LOL! Blasphemy much? Who needs Jesus Christ when we have Ron DeSantis?

    I've never seen a DeSantis ad...ever!
