His target was Nancy Pelosi, sources told the Associated Press. DePape shouted, “Where is Nancy?” before he violently attacked the Speaker’s 82-year-old husband, Paul Pelosi, the AP reported.

DePape is a fringe conspiracy theorist. “We know that this person has a long history of fringe conspiracy theory views,” Wiener said.

A blog titled “God Is Loving” was written by an author named David DePape. The blog focused on “Big Brother” conspiracy theories and censorship. The author rails against an “elite ruling class” of mainstream media and technology companies for censoring people not in power.

DePape appears to have made racist, and often rambling, posts online, including some that questioned the results of the 2020 election, defended Donald Trump, and echoed QAnon conspiracy theories.

Not surprisingly, you didn't put in anything about his hard drug addiction and that he's from Canada. He also has a rap sheet in 'frisco, but the DA wouldn't hold him. Again and forever. This is a sicko that needs to be away from the civilized world, and my thoughts go out to the Pelosi family that he recovers fully. The other thing that doesn't help is the drug addiction. That in itself creates instability and paranoia. I'm hopeful that CA actually convicts this A-hole, but if it happens, it will only be due to the victim's name. It's sad that normal people are victims that can't get the same respect.

I also find it interesting that you made up reasons, justifications, and excuses for the attempt assassination of a SCOTUS member, and Steve Scalise, but start hammering on this one (so to speak). It's apparent that if it's advantageous to you to, it's horrible. If not, it's not worth noting.

"Scott also said DePape has been booked on charges of attempted homicide, assault with a deadly weapon, elder abuse, burglary, and “several other additional felonies.”

A motive for the crime is still being determined, according to San Francisco police.

Investigators found a chilling list allegedly belonging to DePape of other politicians he planned to target, KTVU reported, citing sources."

Two of DePape’s relatives who spoke to CNN said he was originally from British Columbia, Canada, but had moved to California around 20 years ago. They also said he was estranged from his family.

Teresa DePape, married to the suspect’s stepfather, told USA Today he had “strong opinions,” adding: “I didn’t know David to be a violent person. But he was an aggressive speaker.”

Other people who had known him told CNN he had struggled with hard drugs and lived in a storage unit in the Berkeley area.

DePape was featured in a local news story about Taub’s 2013 naked wedding, described as a “hemp jewelry maker and father figure,” and serving as best man at the ceremony.

An online blog named frenlyfrens.com was started in August of this year by a person with the screen name DavidDepape, which featured a number of disturbing conspiracy-led posts and rants.

Headings on the blog included Climate Hysteria, Covid, Immigrants, Pedo Gate and Communism.

Various news sites published that DePape had posted conspiracy theories on Facebook and YouTube falsely claiming COVID vaccines were deadly and the 2020 election was stolen.

Thankfully, Paul Pelosi appears to be recovering. A fractured skull at age 82 is always a matter of concern.

Having said that, I think "that feckless dementia-ridden piece of crap" should be denounced soundly for politicizing the attack on Friday evening, long before the story could be understood.

And,...I have to say that I'm amused that the Dems seem to have little to say about this crime. The Dems are, absolutely, one trick ponies when crime is the story: All they know is to call for stronger gun laws. Bahahahahahahahahahaha.

So. Ban, um, hammers?

Hammers and knives are both used more than guns. Rule of thumb. If you're attacked with a knife, you're going to get cut (2 out of 3 times). Attacked by a gun (1 out of 3 times). This was of course before the rampant crime that is enveloping our big cities. Maybe pushing people on subway tracks are a percentage now. Or clocking old people because they're Asians.

As I said in the top of the thread, I actually really worried about the damage done to Pelosi by a hammer. One weapon does more damage. An ax. So either one of those are horrible wounds that usually at best leave the victim with some cognitive loss.

So if he or his wife actually want them or not, my prayers go out to him (especially) and the family. Like you said. 82 year old with cranial impact injuries is never good.
