What would you want ANY US president to do in this situation? Send in Seal Team Six to free Griner? Threaten to bomb Russia? Start WWIII? Russia already rejected a swap for swap for arms dealer Viktor Boot, aka the Merchant of Death.

She is not the only American being held there. I understand that there is a teacher in prison as spy on what appears to be trumped up charges. There are probably other Americans there.

The truth of the matter is that Griner is guilty and she royally screwed up. She claims she was packing in hurry and forgot she had the cannabis oil in her vaping device. She shouldn't have entered Russia with any cannabis in the first place as it is totally illegal there. It's nuts to try to get any pot through airport security in a hostile foreign nation. Especially one on the brink of war. Her manager, her agent and/or any of the people who care about her should have made it clear to Griner that she can't bring a speck of hash oil with her to Russia.

There are just some places, airports in particular, where you don't carry potential contraband. That includes guns, exotic animals, various plants, fruit and drugs.

Forget Moscow, I would make sure I don't have pot in my luggage if I was flying into Montgomery, Alabama. In Alabama getting caught with any amount of cannabis can land you in jail for up to 20 years.

Maybe Biden should first focus on getting pot smokers out of prison in Alabama.
