It looks to me that DOJ is still playing hardball. It is no accident that "people familiar with the matter" spoke to WaPo reporters. They are no doubt concerned about nuclear secrets and secrets about our spying methods getting into the wrong hands. Mar-a-Lago is unsecured and a spy's dream. It's quite possible that the DOJ wants to impress upon potential appeals courts the ongoing risk to national security. It's a bonus that Trump reveals himself to be liar with every shifting denial, excuse and alibi.

You will remember last month that Trump said any report that any of the classified documents were about nuclear secrets is "a hoax".
