Gingrich called this the "most corrupt Justice Department in all of American history."

"You have corruption from the Attorney General, to the head of the FBI, to senior elements of the FBI," he said. "You have collusion from a wide range of the intelligence community. You had, I think it was 50 some intelligence senior officials who signed a letter last year that we now know is a total lie, none of whom have recanted."

"I fully expect the Justice Department to indict President Trump in a DC court, a district where he got 5.6 percent of the vote. So by 19 to one, the jury is likely to be against him."

"I have no idea what's going to happen next," he explained. "I'm a historian by training and I tell everybody you have to assume that nothing, you know, tells you anything about how corrupt and how sick this is going to get.

This time, good ol Newt speaks for pb.

Trump is despicable.

But, "that feckless dementia-ridden piece of crap's" DOJ has taken despicablility to a new, previously unimaginable, place.

How dare they indict someone who likely committed felonies! That's outrageous! Whoever heard of such a thing? What's this country coming to?

I know that you're in denial, there, Donna but your TDS is showing.

    Donna,
Don't you know that Trump is an innocent lamb who is being picked on by the American justice system in about four different courtrooms currently? These prosecutors act like there is something wrong with illegal possession of classified documents, browbeating a secretary of state to find votes, bank and tax fraud or encouraging and enabling capitol rioters.

As Trump asked this week: "Why are people so mean?"

I think, Curt, this is a case of both/and.

Trump is despicable. The Biden Administration is despicabl-er.

    HtS,
Many people have been convicted of what Trump did with classified documents. Some got prison time, some were fined as the cases were somewhat different in degree and intent. By the way, none of them were given the deference, polite requests for the classified documents, beforehand. They FBI came in like gangbusters guns drawn most of the time.

Are you thinking that a former president--now a private citizen--should get free pass on the laws he apparently broke?

Since 2005, the FBI and the Justice Department have launched at least 11 such investigations, some targeting high-profile former U.S. officials, including a former national security adviser and a former CIA director.

Others who have been prosecuted and who have pleaded guilty or were convicted include Defense Department employees, defense contractors and employees or contractors with the FBI, the CIA and the National Security Agency.

Here’s a list of some notable cases:

But, alas, not Hillary, eh? Yup. Not Hillary.

    HtS,
In explaining his agency’s recommendation not to prosecute, FBI Director James Comey cited the lack of four elements that he said had been present “in some combination” in previous prosecutions involving removal or mishandling of classified information:

    1. “Clearly intentional and willful mishandling of classified information.”
    2. “Vast quantities of materials exposed in such a way as to support an inference of intentional misconduct.”
    3. “Indications of disloyalty to the United States.”
    4. “Efforts to obstruct justice.”
Comey concluded: “We do not see those things here.” Thus Clinton was not charged.

Now measure Trump by those standards. Not much doubt that he's guilty of 1, 2 and 4. As for number 3 Trump he certainly doesn't seem concerned about the spies he might have exposed by his mishandling top secret documents. The Mar-a-Lago hotel is frequented by spies and sketchy characters.

    Curt,

In explaining his agency’s recommendation not to prosecute, FBI Director James Comey...

Nuff said! The discredited, corrupt FBI.

You should know, your son is in law enforcement. Cops don't make decisions about who is prosecuted, and how.

    Hillary?

I know, I know, Dems farts don't stink.

Honestly, I don't get it. GOPs can decry evil among them, and do. You? Disgusting!

pb'll will repeat. Trump is despicable. Biden’s administration is despicabl-er.

    It truly is.

Actually cops have a lot of discretion. Have you never heard of a cop opting to give a driver a warning rather than a ticket? Like Comey, cops will decide if a law is broken. After all, cops are often required to appear in court as prosecution witnesses confronting the person they arrested. Good cops want to get bad guys off the streets but they also want cases that are prosecutable.

You do understand that comey was in charge of the cliton affair. That should be enough for the most logical person to account for this whole debacle.
