A handful of media outlets reported on Friday the contents of the search warrant executed at former President Donald Trump’s Florida estate, but Breitbart also published information about the FBI agents involved that the Department of Justice had sought to protect.

On Monday, FBI agents raided Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, reportedly to search for government documents Trump improperly took with him upon leaving office. Some of the documents are reportedly classified.

Fox News, the Wall Street Journal, Politico, and Breitbart all reported on the contents of the warrant, which indicate the DOJ is investigating the former president for a possible violation of the Espionage Act, as well as obstruction of justice.

Breitbart, the far-right publication once helmed by former Trump White House adviser Steve Bannon, published the names of FBI employees involved in Monday’s search. Breitbart reported the FBI gave two receipts listing the seized items to Trump’s attorney.

“The longer receipt was signed by FBI Special Agent [REDACTED] and the shorter receipt was signed by the name: [REDACTED] and includes [REDACTED],” Breitbart’s article stated, while not redacting the names...

What goes around.

I don't believe in doxing. At All. Flip side. Conservatives (including non Trumpers) are tired of seeing this used against our SCOTUS members, and everyone else "they" think needs it. So goose/ gander. You reap what you sow. And then there's good of fashioned Kharma.

Endangering the lives of law enforcement officers is now suddenly worthy of praise, or if not that, certainly deserved?

Have you guys lost your marbles?

  3. by HatetheSwamp on August 15, 2022 3:43 am

    Donna,

You're right. Doxing is only appropriate when conservatives and antiSwamp lives are endangered.

  4. by oldedude on August 15, 2022 6:05 am
But it was okay to dox SCOTUS? Which is a felony by the way. And I said I don't like the doxing of anyone. I said that I understand the frustration on the right, because it's perfectly okay to dox Conservatives, and then when your side gets doxed, you're up in arms. That doesn't make sense to me. It is yet another goose/ gander thing I deplore.

Conservatives are just playing by your rules now. You set up the playbook, they're responding. In this case, I deplore both of them.

Just to be clear, pb denounces what Breitbart did...just like he denounced the J6 riot while it was taking place.

But, pb is frustrated by the hypocrisy of people on the left, demonstrated in this case, again, as always.

    I disagree. I think it's always inappropriate.

I guess that's the difference between you and me. When I see soneone on the left do something I think is wrong, I ctiticize it.

Please link us to all your posts condemning the doxing of the Supreme Court Justices...and of the attempt to assassinate Justice Kavanaugh that the doxing it inspired.

    I don't recall them.

  8. by Donna on August 15, 2022 7:53 am
You don't seem to recall much of anything lately.

  9. by HatetheSwamp on August 15, 2022 7:59 am

You're amazingly consistent in pointing out our rare moments of agreement. I don't recall you pointing out our shared outrage over the woke doxing the Justices who voted to uphold the Mississippi law. So, just help me out.

Look it up yourself. Knock yourself out. The archive goes way back.

Btw, Trump isn't even supposed to have unclassified documents in his possession. They're supposed to be kept at National Archives so that if you submit a FOIA request, they can send you a copy of the documents you requested. If they're in Trump's possession, no one will be able to access them.

  12. by oldedude on August 15, 2022 12:12 pm
I don't get it. An assassination attempt on a supreme court judge in early June and you can't remember that far back? I think you lied to me about not smoking weed.

I can't find anything. So it's true. You support the murder of SCOTUS. Got it.

Btw, Trump isn't even supposed to have unclassified documents in his possession.

That doesn't make sense to me. Reportedly, among the items seized in the raid was a dinner napkin. Certainly, Big Bro doesn't own them, too.

  14. by Curt_Anderson on August 15, 2022 1:28 pm
    HtS,
Trump certainly doesn't own them. The White House and the furniture, knick-knacks and other items in it belongs to the American people. Napkins, letters and notes from foreign leaders, such as North Korea’s Kim Jong Un, a phone list, charts, memos, maps, talking points, a birthday dinner menu, schedules were among the items that Trump improperly removed from the White House. All that was returned earlier this year to the National Archives to be preserved for historical reasons.

  15. by HatetheSwamp on August 15, 2022 2:05 pm

And, confidential attorney-client material generated during his presidency?

I don't know the law but your take on this doesn't make sense.

And, if engineered a raid on his primary challenger to seize cocktail napkins, that strikes me as overreach.

  16. by Curt_Anderson on August 15, 2022 2:33 pm
HtS, not to worry. The DOJ has already set up a "filter team" to review the seized materials before they are viewed by investigators to determine whether any of them are protected by attorney-client privilege, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Trump's claim of executive privilege is far more legally dubious, legal experts said.

"Anything that falls under 'executive privilege' doesn't belong to him. It's still government property and belongs in the archives," tweeted Teri Kanefield, a former appellate defense attorney. "So he admits to being in possession of stolen material. Someone needs to tell him he has the right to remain silent."

Sarah Isgur, a former Trump DOJ spokesperson, said she could not think of an example where executive privilege would apply to a document that was not also covered under the Presidential Records Act, which requires all of Trump's records from the White House to be preserved.

"Which means all such documents belong to the National Archives… and can't legally be held by Trump" at Mar-a-Lago, she tweeted.

So you're saying those investigating are filtering the documents for client/lawyer privilege. Well done! welldone.
