Donald Trump himself, as president, signed a law in 2018 stiffening the penalty for mishandling classified information.

Politico reported Wednesday on the law Trump signed — making mishandling a felony — in the wake of his 2016 campaign against Hillary Clinton:

Notably, Trump — after a fierce campaign against Clinton in which he called for her to be jailed for her handling of classified material — signed a law in 2018 that stiffened the penalty for the unauthorized removal and retention of classified documents from one year to five years, turning it into a felony offense.

The penalty for doing so under Section 1924(a) of title 18 of the United States Code, which deals with the unauthorized removal and retention of classified documents or material, was changed from one year to five years in prison.

    I know this is a misuse of the term, but some would call it karma.

    Curt. Donna,

    No one, anywhere, that I know of is suggesting that Trump didn't do something wrong...even criminal. To paraphrase Jane Austen, "It's a truth universally acknowledged...that Trump is despicable."

    That his home was raided by, what was it?, 30 federales, is something without precedent in the entirety of the history of this republic...and, uncalled for.

    It's a cross between Joseph Stalin and Ferdinand Marcos.

    EVERYTHING we have talked about regarding the raid, is hearsay. And yet, the sheeple are already dancing in the street already. It's like their sex lube for them (and their sheep are happy!).

    What happened to Curt saying "Let's just watch and see what happens."

    The biggest issue is the AG is in on it also. That makes it hard for anyone to actually find anyone honest enough to actually charge correctly. Although I'm pretty sure this is on the order of the J6 "committee" because they have nothing else.

    I don't think anyone should be above the law, Hts. Do you?

    You know, if DJT was smart, he would have declassified those documents before he stole them.

    This is speculation, but since DJT's entire being seems to be focused on amassing wealth, maybe he was planning to sell those documents for a huge price.
