FOX News personality Greg Gutfeld is complaining about the unflattering news coverage of Donald Trump. Media star Gutfeld said, "the [news] media is the only industry designed to lie."
I disagree with Gutfeld that the media lies about Trump to make him look bad. The media tells truth to make Trump look bad. Reporters (and late night comedians) simply showed his tweets, quoted him verbatim and ran a video tapes of him speaking.
According to Gutfeld the news media reported, "Trump recommending injecting bleach into your veins to beat COVID. All lies were reported as facts."
To be fair, Trump didn't specify bleach, he suggested disinfectants. He also didn't specify how or where it would be injected. Here is what he asked his COVID adviser. Also see video below.
"And then I see the disinfectant, where it knocks it out in one minute. And is there a way we can do something like that, by injection inside or almost a cleaning, because you see it gets in the lungs and it does a tremendous number on the lungs, so itíd be interesting to check that, so that youíre going to have to use medical doctors with, but it sounds interesting to me. So, weíll see, but the whole concept of the light, the way it kills it in one minute. Thatís pretty powerful."
Apparently oblivious to who had offices in the Trump White House, the pro-Trump pundit Gutfeld whined, "Itís a big pastime. Focusing on a man in a MAGA hat reduces the chances of hitting Joe Bidenís corrupt nepotism."
the practice among those with power or influence of favoring relatives or friends, especially by giving them jobs.

by Curt Anderson on June 16, 2021 6:40 pm The following came to my email box from , Rube, a frequent poster in our old forum. Rube, aka pb posted here in The Post eighteen months ago as, I believe, "swampB" and/or "oncewaspb". The Post and the old forum have different log in passwords.
I'd do this under my name but I can't get the site to accept me as Rube with the password that I have been using since meagain was singing back up for the Beatles. ;-)
Trump most certainly didn't say bleach.
And, honestly, I'm shocked to see that you're so familiar with Gutfeld, who's a regular on THE FIVE and, of course, is rocking cable ratings with his new late night comedy show.
by Curt Anderson on June 16, 2021 6:56 pm Rube,
Probably because we discussed him, Gutfeld comes up on my newsfeed. I thought it rather rich that Gutfeld accused Biden of nepotism.
I don't believe many, if any, news outlets reported that Trump said inject bleach into veins, as Gutfeld claims. However, bleach is probably the most common household disinfectant. Apparently people who took Trump's suggestion seriously believed that disinfectants, including bleach, was a good way to fight COVID: "In April, which includes an eight day period from the 23rd of the month to the 30th, following Trumpís comments, the increase [accidental poisonings with household disinfectants] was 121% compared to April of 2019."
"For bleach, the numbers are less dramatic...with the first ten-day period showing an increase of 51% over the same 10 days last year." - Time magazine
Above stats according to the American Association of Poison Control Centers (AAPCC).

I plan to delete the two version of pb which I mentioned above. The Post doesn't like two members coming from the same ISP. Try logging on as Rube again.
