Interesting that my "town" in FL has no such problems. I'm in a rural area, but there was only one night during 2020 that was anywhere near a riot. And that was Miami. I wonder why? Obviously, Miami has the same gang issues that LA, Chicago, and the other cities have.
Lets start with the law. First, the gun laws are enforced. Simple as that. You commit a crime with a gun, it's an automatic 5 year extension to your sentence. And unlike CO, I don't need to wait for some Freddy Kruger with an ax to actually enter my house to protect myself. Although I don't have to wait, I would allow him to take the first swing. Then SiGgy or CZ have the legal right to protect me. They are both well trained, and can load themselves and shoot when they see an intruder. Much more reliable than the pit bull that is getting old and doesn't wake up very well.
I feel pretty safe here. We're not defunding the police and people treat them well. The City and County Attorneys prosecute like they are paid to do. I don't see an issue with the direct correlation of the legal enforcement of the state statutes. If I know no one cares if I beat an Asian Woman 52 times with a bat, I may do that. I'm out the same day, and can murder my girlfriend. That's pretty easy to me.
