I don't care what anybody says. Trump's trials won't help his poll numbers.

We don’t really know Joe Biden or Donald Trump. Maybe we should listen to those who do.

Please, Lord, help me not to be obsessed with Joe Biden a year and a half after he's gone from the White House. Please, please, please, please, please!!!!!

About a year-ish ago, when the pandemic still raged, when we were a good half year into the Biden regime, I was so far beyond being amused by my fellow SS posters obsession with Trump that I composed lyrics for a TDS anthem...to be sung twice while washing hands and to the tune of ROW, ROW, ROW YOUR BOAT:

Trump, Trump, Trump is bad,
Nasty things Trump did.
Carefully, carefully do we watch,
Nothing will be hid.

(Repeat)

So, as pb writes this, the two threads at the top of the SS Post pile are Trump deranged.

Yesterday, again, I was lamenting the Doddering Old Fart's tragic withdrawal from Afghanistan to Donna. I challenged her to tell me that she's not heartbroken at the number of our former Afghan allies, abandoned by "that feckless dementia-ridden piece of crap" who have been tortured and killed and whose wives and daughters are now the Taliban's sex slaves.

What I got was a Trump question. Do I feel bad about what Trump did with the Kurds? As I noted, I have never praised Trump's handling of international affairs. I do feel bad, but, c'mon man gimme a break! What's that got to do with the (inflated) price of coffee!!!!!?

Gang,

What is it about our current President that the people who voted for him have his predecessor in the forefront of their minds?

That's okay. I don't really want to know.

The truth...OBJECTIVE truth...is that Donald Trump is not our problem.

Joe Biden is.

    Joe Biden is."

So that's why you don't want us to say Trump anymore ???

As I noted, it's hard not to be amused by the Trump, Trump, Trump, Trump thing.

I do wonder what it's all about. Some Blue MAGAs seem to use Trump like the Nazis used the Jews. Others?, I dunno, if you think about Trump then you don't have to despair over your part in foisting "that feckless dementia-ridden piece of crap" on an innocent world.

But, as a Catholic, you know the "judge not or you too will be judged" thing. Who knows?, a year after Joe's gone, I may be as preoccupied with the Doddering Old Fool as all of you are with Trump... He'll be sitting in his wheelchair, drooling, muttering, "Ultra-MAGA, Ultra-MAGA, Ultra-MAGA..."

"What is it about our current President that the people who voted for him have his predecessor in the forefront of their minds?" --HtS

That's an odd promise. It's not Biden that makes us think of Trump, it's Trump that makes us think of Trump. Hardly a day goes by when he isn't involved in some legal action, or denouncing something, or issuing a missive.

No American has been a greater threat to American democracy than Donald Trump. That is why we revile him.

You do know, though, Curt, that Joe Biden is the current President.

Yes, and I am constantly grateful for that.

    Effin WHY!!!!!?

The sort of stuff that you blame Biden for, like the price of gasoline, presidents don't and shouldn't have control over. The global pandemic bolloxed up the international supply chain. Because of two years of pandemic when people stayed home is over; people are on the move again. High demand causes the price of gasoline to increase. Welcome to Econ 101. All that would happen no matter who was president.

Biden is not to blame for the final 13 American deaths in Afghanistan. If we had stayed at least 13 Americans would have probably died in the first month followed by many more. Biden ripped the band-aid off. Get used to the fact that some countries are benighted and seem to prefer it that way. America can't solve everybody's problems.

Besides his Big Lie about his own legitimate election loss, he continues to push insane conspiracy theories about other elections (see CNN link). Because there are gullible fools in America who take his claims seriously, it undermines faith in elections, the legitimacy of our elected leaders and democracy itself.

Biden favors democracy as evidenced by his leadership regarding Ukraine and NATO. Biden has a current essay on the subject in the NY Times (see link). Trump, like his pal Putin, denigrated and despised NATO. We already know from Trump's "perfect phone call" his attitude toward supplying Ukraine with defensive weaponry.

So yeah, I'm very glad Biden won.

    Curt,

    Thoughtful comment. However,...

Honestly, when I watch the RSBN coverage of those Trump rallies?, I hear the same blind, leap of faith, zealous...disconnect from reality...adoration of Trump that you are laying down for the Former Truck Driver.

    Good for you.

If it feels good, as progressives in the 60s said, do it.

I see that after a day of mulling it over you've made no attempt to refute anything that I've said in my post immediately above yours. Instead you resort to Elaine attempt at an ad hominem attack.

  10. by HatetheSwamp on June 2, 2022 9:20 am

    Refute?

You've been Good Germaning the Doddering Old Fool since the day after election day in 020. I wouldn't dream of engaging you on any of the points of The Blue MAGA Biden Creed any more than I'd debate a devout Catholic on the Nicene Creed.

Interesting, though, that you interpret my comparison of your devotion to Joe with the RSBN gang's deep love for Trump as ad hominem. The comparison is perfect. If anything, I was praising you for the depth of your commitment.

"I wouldn't dream of engaging you on any of the points..."

At least you know your limitations.
