Georgia has seen 539,297 people cast ballots as of Tuesday, far outpacing the 182,684 by this point in the 2018 midterm primary elections, according to data compiled by Georgia Votes.

    Actually this is evidence of something that I have said repeatedly in this forum. Namely nothing motivates voters like having their rights threatened or denied. In this case the Republicans of Georgia want to deny Georgians two of their current rights: medically approved abortions and voting.

    The Georgia legislature has instituted and proposed very restrictive laws on abortions. See link.

    As I have also said voter suppression efforts only served to remind voters how important and valuable their vote is.

    Joe Biden, Stacy Abrams and Democrats generally are reminding voters that their rights are at risk. That is smart politics. Sorry Republicans, it looks like your plots are being foiled!

    If the implication of your opening post and the article you cited are correct, Republican voter suppression aimed at reducing votes by Democrats is not working. That's how it seems the GOP plot is being foiled.

    Of course, it's primary not a general election, so it's not all that relevant which party gets the larger turnout.
