    I don't have a problem with Republicans per se. I don't object to people with a conservative viewpoint being in our political system. It would not be a good if America had only one political party and there was no debate and opposing ideas in Congress. Even very good ideas should be questioned and scrutinized.

    I do object to The Crazy Ones and their relentless campaign to make Americans distrust our electoral system and democracy generally.

    Don't we all place our personal profits to some degree over the well-being of others? If we have a business or if we work for others we exchange our goods, services and/or talents for payment. How much of your hard-earned income are you willing to give up for the benefit of others?

    Of course you may have an ideological as well as a financial reason for not wanting to give up much or most of what you've earned.

    Right now, none of it because we're in the red. But in the past when we had some financial breathing room, Sheri and I were fairly generous helping others. I'd like to think that if I had, say a hundred million dollars, I'd give at least 95% of it away. I'm not a materialist. I don't need a lot of money to be happy.

    I think there's a difference between charging a fair price for what you're selling and price gouging.

    Did you ever hear about the heir to an oleo margarine fortune by the name of Michael Brody? Back in the 70s he pledged to give away his purported fortune of 25 million dollars to all the people in need who asked for it. What happened is now a subject of a new documentary.
