I doubt a Supreme Court clerk leaked Alito's opinion. Clerks are ambitious, they want to be judges, they're probably not going to risk their career just to make a statement.
I doubt a liberal leaked the opinion. It would have been better to wait until June, when it'll have a bigger impact on the November election. What does leaking an opinion in May get you?
It was probably a conservative. Alito wrote the draft back in February. Over the last couple of months, the other conservative judges have suggested changes, trying to make it more mainstream. The most extreme members -- Alito and Thomas -- probably didn't like that.
Who had access to the document? All nine justices, maybe some clerks.
Do we know any justices who discuss cases with their spouses?
Do we know any justices who are married to a Jan. 6 extremist?
Who had access? Who had motive? Who thinks they're above the law?
