The Ashland Run is the oldest continuous competitive run in Ashland, Oregon. Founded and still organized by brothers Steve and Doug Hoxmeier, this is a very low key, informal affair and always plenty of fun. It's a great tune-up for the Ashland Fourth of July Run. For almost a half century, since the first Ashland Run in the mid-seventies, the race has been held every Saturday prior to Memorial Day. The rugged four and half mile (approximate) course starts near the corner of Pioneer and Hargadine Streets in Ashland, which is in front of the outdoor Shakespeare Theatre. The course runs through several neighborhoods, alleys, trails, winds through Lithia Park and finishes near the starting line. The approximate halfway point of the race is 500 feet higher than the low point, the library, which is a quarter mile into the run.
