I predict that the pro-Russia wing of the Republican Party is going to praise this.

A Russian court has effectively shut down the country’s largest LGBTQ rights organization after a failed attempt by the government to liquidate the Russian LGBT Network and its parent organization, the Charitable Sphere Foundation, in February.

A court in St. Petersburg issued the decision Thursday in support of Russia’s Justice Ministry. A representative of the ministry had claimed the Charitable Sphere Foundation illegally “carried out political activities using foreign property” under the guise of a charity and said its activities are aimed at changing legislation, including the Russian Constitution. In its lawsuit, the Russian government also accused the group of spreading “LGBT views” and engaging in activities that go against “traditional values.”

Interesting prediction. We will see. Keep track.

I think that it might be useful for you to remember, Western Europe and North America notwithstanding, nearly all of the rest of the world thinks what humanity has historically thought about all parts of LGBT and Q and I, A, and all the rest.

Yes, we're well aware that homophobia and transphobia have been the predominant viewpoint throughout most of human history. Your point?

  3. by HatetheSwamp on April 26, 2022 8:27 am

I have several points. But, the first is that, there's an outside chance that you'll find a waaaaaaaaaay out of the mainstream GOP who'll praise Russia but this is America.

We're not the rest of the world...

I think you're doing something serious hating of Republicans. Something you, sometimes, do too quickly and easily.

    You didn't answer my question.

There's no one here who's more hateful towards a political party than you.

    Donna,

You just predicted that the GOPs are going to blow up praising hemophilia in Russia.

    And, pb hates!!!!!?

    Bahahahahahahahahahaha.

Of course not every Republican is going to like what Russia did regarding LGBTQs, but many will. Before Russia invaded Ukraine, a lot of Republicans liked Putin and he was gaining support with them. Republicans are much more comfortable with authoritarians than Democrats.

    Be real, Donna.

Caitlyn Jenner is one of the stars of the GOP minority in California.

Guy Benson has the big talk show on Fox News Radio and GOPs run each other over to be interviewed on his show.

It's absolutely, unfounded, blind hate for you to suggest that the GOP is a hotbed for simmering homophobia.

I'd expect this from po but you're more thoughtful than that!

    C'mon man. Gimme a break.

There's an undeniable anti-LGBTQ sentiment among conservatives. To deny that is absurd.

  11. by HatetheSwamp on April 27, 2022 7:54 am

Certainly, there are many people who are opposed to the LGBT political agenda. I listen to openly gay Guy Benson about ten hours a week. He very openly gay. He mentions his sexuality, in one way or another, nearly every day. Yet, he opposes the LGBT political agenda. His opposition to the politics of LGBTs has, lately, with the Florida law so much in the news, become a regular theme of his program.

But, as you strawmanize and demonize, Guy Benson is a dangerous GOP homophobe.

You need to nuance your thinking and ease up on your hate. There's a real world out there. The Dems have become the party of hate. The GOP is now the party of inclusion. That's just, simply, real world.

I'm tired of you misrepresenting what I said. But it got a reaction, which drives everything you post.

As you know, I'm not onboard with everything the loudest voices in the trans community are saying, and I've been very outspoken about that.

Obviously there are people who don't believe in equality for LGBTQ people. They would rather that we all went back into the closet. When I say they're conservatives, that's true. But you make it sound like I'm saying that it's ALL conservatives, which isn't true.

Inclusivity is great, but it isn't always a good thing. Your party welcomes neo-Nazis and White supremacists. In fact they supported the guy you voted for. I'd rather be a member of a party that DOESN'T welcome people from those groups.

When I say they're conservatives, that's true. But you make it sound like I'm saying that it's ALL conservatives, which isn't true.

Your premise in this thread is that they're GOPs. Folded into what you were saying is that the GOP will "praise" the institutional homophobia that exists in Russia.

    You're wrong. You spoke hate.

The truth is that the GOP is the party in this country where there is wild diversity. In your party, people can't oppose LGBT politics. In mine, there are openly gay people who lead the party and who are vehement in opposing LGBT politics.

My party is the home vigorous dialog and energetic diversity. It's nothing close to the hotbed of homophobia you suggested.
