No facts, no evidence; just unfounded claims of "the Swamp".

(The Hill)Rep. Madison Cawthorn (R-N.C.) did not appear to back down from controversial comments he made on a podcast last month, saying in a statement released on Friday that he was “calling out corruption.”

“Corruption and unethical activities exist in Washington. It’s an indisputable fact. If you don’t think that’s true, you’ve not witnessed the Swamp,” Cawthorn wrote. “My comments on a recent podcast appearance calling out corruption have been used by the left and the media to disparage my Republican colleagues and falsely insinuate their involvement in illicit activities.”

The North Carolina Republican claimed that Democrats and the media wanted to use his controversial remarks to splinter his party.

“The culture in Washington is corrupt. Human nature is fallen. Compromising activities occur because when other people can place you in compromising positions, they control you,” he said, without specifying who or what he was referring to.

See earlier report of Cawthorne's claims of sex, drugs and GOP at SelectSmart.com link below.

    Well, he talks your language.

I remember, back on the old forum, when I was splaining how I use the term, "Swamp," you telling me that I can't mean use the word that way.

I think that one reality of our time, politically, is that there's a huuuuuuuuuge political culture that can be defined by a negative...as a vehement rejection of what you believe in...and, seemingly, love.

That being the case, the antiSwamp is extremely diverse.

That it makes your head spin and causes you to grind your teeth is understandable.

Recently, I was proving to Donna that the GOP is where inclusion and openness and tolerance lives. This, significantly, is why.

Your explanation of "the Swamp" convinced nobody. Cawthorne's definition of "the Swamp" likewise has no basis in reality. It appeals to conspiracists and the aggrieved.

That FOX hired a former reality star doesn't make Republicans or conservatives open-minded or inclusive.

To me, the swamp, simply put, is politicians who use their positions to advance their own interests at the expense of others.

  6. by Curt_Anderson on April 3, 2022 4:17 pm
Donna, I agree with your definition. With your definition in mind has there ever been a politician more of a swamp rat than Donald Trump? That's why it is so ludicrous that some voters imagine Trump to be an anti-swamp politician.

  7. by Donna on April 3, 2022 5:05 pm
Not that I can think of.

I'm all for getting rid of the swamp, but Donald Trump is the last person I'd vote for to accomplish that.

  8. by HatetheSwamp on April 4, 2022 4:26 am

    Bahahahahahahahahahaha.

Y'know, this is what I mean when I say that you Blue MAGAs are cute.

Go ahead and swipe the term Swamp. Go for it. Enjoy! Joe Biden is the poster boy for the antiSwamp. Hoohoohoohoohoohoohoo!

Donald Trump is the King of the Swamp. Keeheeheeheeheeheeheehee.

That doesn't change the fact there's a, still growing, movement of tens of millions who despise DC and all of its flunkeys.

  9. by Donna on April 4, 2022 5:24 am
And you get a kick out of that, don't you? Even though you say that you despise Trump.

    You're a nihilist.

  10. by HatetheSwamp on April 4, 2022 5:40 am

I do get a kick out of your side's shameless squirming, your trying to convince yourself that Joe's still got a brain and that, somehow, the movement of previously uninvolved voters who are now participating in GOP rallies and Primaries are the essence of decades of political corruption...that these newbies are the Swamp.

I believe that you, and Curt, isle and your whole shebang aren't intentionally, consciously dishonest, but there's an irrationality so compelling in what you're saying that is kneeslappingly laughable.

I do get a kick out of it in an ironic, gallows humor way.

If seeing Blue MAGA irony makes me a nihilist.

  11. by Donna on April 4, 2022 5:55 pm
To say that Joe Biden doesn't have a brain has always sounded stupid, but now, particularly, it sounds so unhinged, I wonder if you're joking.

I'm 65, and Joe's 79. As far as I know, I'm not in bad shape for 65, but I'd have a hard time keeping up with Biden. I don't know how he does it. And I have to say that I probably wouldn't be handling the war in Ukraine any differently than he is.

Voting for Trump in the general election makes you a nihilist because that would be the end of America as we knew it.

  12. by HatetheSwamp on April 5, 2022 4:22 am

Did you see that, yesterday, AGAIN, the Former 18 Wheeler Driver claimed that he is a former 18 Wheeler driver?

    The man's brain is g-o-n-e!

I've never seen someone get so excited about thinking that soneone has dementia. It seems to make your day whenever you think you have more evidence.

A little self reflection might be in order.

  14. by HatetheSwamp on April 5, 2022 6:43 am

Oh, Donna, I've done tons of reflection. Evie and I talk about poor old Joe several times a week.

I've mentioned how personal this is for me. Dementia leads its victims on many different paths. My mom's made it annoying and embarrassing to be around her. She behaved inappropriately in public so that, if people nearby didn't know her story, you just had to cringe, but she couldn't help it.

It's remarkable to me how much Joe's dementia journey resembles my dad's. And, as I've noted any times, my heart breaks for him. I see him as a victim of elder abuse. I think Jill should be arrested.

And, were it not for the fact that he's the US President, I'd only feel compassion.

But, as I said from the beginning, every Ukrainian death and all of the Ukrainian suffering is on his hands...

    ...and, Jill's.

  15. by Donna on April 5, 2022 6:55 am
I think that laying the blame of all the death and suffering in Ukraine on Joe and now Jill (good grief) Biden says more about your mental condition.

  16. by HatetheSwamp on April 5, 2022 7:07 am

I'm convinced that if the US and NATO had been proactive, Putin would have backed down, nary a shot would have been fired, nor missile launched nor bomb dropped.

My conclusion that the Former 18 Wheeler enabled this is a logical outcome of my conviction.
