I just watched President Biden’s speech from Poland. It was, in my mind, his finest moment.
The speech was, in its first minutes, in my opinion, JFKesque, bordering on being inspirational.
Most significantly, for pb...and not for the first time,...Joe Biden quoted Søren Kierkegaard.
This was Biden’s best performance, no doubt. The President was nasty toward Vladimir Putin and spoke about Ukraine's ultimate victory. Good for him.
However,...
...while his audience was responsive to the words themselves, especially early on in the speech, in the end, it was uninspired.
After Biden walked off the stage, the crowd erupted into the chant, "Close the skies! Close the skies!"
Kierkegaard, as isle pointed out not so long ago, was ultimately concerned about what a person does. Apparently, Poles and Ukrainians know that.
In the end, it's not going to matter that Joe can still put a few fiery sentences together. Before long, the guy who's been slow to put out for Ukraine is going to have to come through in a concrete way.
Still, the Kierkegaard thing? That's a good start.
