Reports are that the Ukrainian army is having similar success against the Russians in the port areas. In other areas the Russians are bogged down. There are reports of a high number of Russian casualties, low morale and even a lack of food, fuel and equipment.
The war in Ukraine has been going on for a month. That's embarrassing for Russia and Putin. A quick Russian victory was expected by most observers. In places where the Russians have been "successful" such as Mariupal, the Russians have destroyed the prize they want to capture.
Russia's reputation as a formidable military force has taken a major setback. A couple of years ago Trump recommended that Putin be invited to the confabs of respected world leaders. Now Putin is a pariah and Russia is a pariah state.
It will take a long time for Russia to rehabilitate its military and moral reputation.
