President Biden showed his diplomatic chops by rallying NATO and the European Union in opposing Putin’s threat and aggression against Ukraine.

Biden managed this feat after Trump had denigrated NATO and alienated our traditional allies. Trump surrendered the title of “leader of the free world.” to German chancellor Angela Merkel during his presidency. As recently as yesterday, Trump at CPAC claimed Putin is smart and NATO leaders are dumb.

Biden was especially deft in revealing our best intelligence estimates publicly so the world knew what Putin's next moves would be. Biden predicted that Putin would launch an invasion on Ukraine. Biden predicted what sort of pretexts that Putin would use to assault Ukraine. Russians ambassadors were given the unenviable task of denying Russia's intentions to attack Ukraine. Of course, the Russians were revealed to liars. Even though President Volodymyr Zelensky downplayed them and told Ukrainians to be calm, Ukrainians prepared themselves to heroically meet the moment because of Biden's warnings.

Trump in Helsinki famously took the word of Putin over America's intelligence agencies. Trump gullibly accepted Putin's denial of Russian interference in our elections, saying "President Putin says it's not Russia. I don't see any reason why it would be."

Biden and his coalition of European countries and others are making use of sanctions that will be particularly detrimental to Russian oligarchs' personal finances and the Russian banking industry generally. That financial impact weakens Putin.

Now the US and European countries are sending arms to the Ukraine for their self-protection and to repel the Russian invaders. That wouldn't be happening if Biden hadn't been a modern day Paul Revere.

By openly and honestly revealed the truth of Putin's plans against Ukraine, Biden has effectively countered the propaganda coming from Russian state media. Pravda's credibility is so diminished that Russians are openly protesting the invasion of Ukraine. Protesting in Russia against Putin takes courage. There are currently protests around the world against Putin. Ukrainians who happen to be outside of Ukraine are returning and volunteering to fight for their homeland.

It was said that "the first casualty when war comes is truth". In this case Putin's lies came fast and furiously before the war. Biden's revelation of the truth has stymied Putin's war efforts.

Will Ukraine be saved? That remains to be seen. They are going up against a formidable Russian army. But thanks to Joe Biden Ukraine's chances are greatly increased.

In his State of the Union speech I expect that Biden will make the case that I made in the above post. Namely by predicting and announcing Putin's every hostile move, Biden made a strong case against Putin and for a freedom-loving democracy.

Not since WWII has there been a war with less moral ambiguity. Everybody---banks, NATO, the EU, even famously neutral Switzerland, FIFA, Shell Oil, BP, state liquor control boards, individual bars, etc.---are against Russia. Nations and businesses are sanctioning, freezing bank accounts, breaking ties with Russia, and/or sending weaponry to Ukraine. About the only people who aren't unquestionably against Putin are Trump, Tucker Carlson and AFPAC convention attendees.

Whether or not people, especially voters, will give Biden the credit he is due, is another matter.

Biden didn't rally NATO. Putin did that. The Europeans are leading in this crisis.

I know you who have sold your brains to the brainless fool are going to believe what you need to believe. Bless your fuzzy little hearts.

I'm thankful for our European allies. They have stones...and their brains are working.

If they were still looking to DC for leadership, the whole world would be on the edge of disaster.

C'mon HtS, give Joe credit. He repaired our European alliances. He letting the Europeans take a prominent role in making Putin a pariah. Otherwise it would have been bilateral with the US alone against Russia. As it is nearly every nation that matters is sanctioning Russia.

I'll admit that the Roaring Bear brought to an end Trump's adversarial approach to diplomacy even with allies but c'mon man, Joe's provides no leadership. He's following our allies.

Case in point: Chancellor Olaf Scholz did an about-face on arming Ukraine after meeting with Biden and Biden sounding the alarm.

Scholtz announced that Germany would increase its military spending to more than 2 percent of the country’s economic output, beginning immediately with a one-off 100 billion euros, or $113 billion, to invest in the country’s woefully underequipped armed forces. He added that Germany would speed up construction of two terminals for receiving liquefied natural gas, or LNG, part of efforts to ease the country’s reliance on Russian energy.

Biden, not any other country was revealing Putin's intentions.

Scholz did that after thousands of Germans filled the streets to protest the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Interestingly, you didn't include the part of the statement in which Scholz thanked the American President for his steadfast, courageous and inspiring leadership.

People in Germany and elsewhere were protesting Russia because Joe Biden had publicly released intelligence predicting Putin's actions.
